£20 a ticket and £15 on beer and merchandise.....so an away fan is worth £35. At best, 1,000 is the average away support split across 11 rounds and I am being really generous here, so Toronto, replacing say Wakefield will cost a SL club £35,000.
The minimum turnover of a SL club is £4,000,000 so Toronto instead of Widnes is worth less than 1% of a SL clubs turnover.

There are many valid reasons for and against expansion into America, but "AWAY FANS" isn't one of them. :BEAT:

Lead sports story on the NZ news this morning is the information that the accuser has photographic evidence and received Hospital treatment for bite marks that "bled profusely"
Police have also stated that Hayne has yet to make any statement and has declined to be interviewed, even though he was in the station for 10 hours.
https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/league/108747963/alleged-sexual-assault-victim-of-jarryd-hayne-was-bitten-police-source-says

Without casting any aspersions on anyone who has not been found guilty of a crime, this certainly doesn't look good for him getting a job at a Big City club any time in the near future, because even if completely exonerated, that's twice he will have been accused and as a game, RL needs to distance itself from such accusations.

His "hinted at" move to NZ Super Rugby would also be in trouble regardless, so it may be French or Japanese Union that he may need to turn to if innocent.

I don't want to prejudge these cases. I agree that having two cases against you doesn't look good for a player even if exonerated in both instances. But if exonerated he is entitled to work, and so long as his future rugby league contract specified nullification of said contract should he be found guilty of any crime more serious than a misdemeanour, he would add great value to any rugby league club in the UK that was willing to pay for his services.

If exonerated, Jarryd Hayne would be entitled to be considered a more exemplary citizen than Zachary Hardaker, who we all know has a playing contract with Wigan. I do hope that Jarryd Hayne will be exonerated for anything more serious than excessively biting a woman while engaged in consensual sex. However, obviously I am in no position to know the outcome of either of his upcoming trials.

Interesting - do you hope that all accused sex offenders are exonerated, or just the ones who used to be good at rugby?

Personally, I hope that justice is done - that seems an aspiration that is more rooted in basic human decency.

"human decency." What the hell is that?

I just don't like top see young rugby league players have their lives destroyed. So while I am all for a fair trial and justice to be served, I will be sad if Jarryd Hayne is found guilty.

How about young women being physically & mentally abused? Have you much experience of the effects of that?

Replacing ‘have their lives destroyed’ with ‘destroy their lives’ make it accurate.

My thoughts exactly. As Much as I would like to expand on his reasons for posting such inflammatory "guff", it would seem prudent of me to hold my tongue, as he is a protected species it would seem.

UPDATE:
https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nrl-premiership/shocking-new-allegations-emerge-in-sexual-assault-case-against-nrl-star-jarryd-hayne/news-story/7715bfbffe5317c67c6d12a744d5ef53

The police will allege a 26-year-old woman had her “clothes ripped off” and was “savagely bitten” as she resisted the off-contract Eels star at her home on September 30. <SNIP>

Now the Sydney Morning Herald has reported the woman was allegedly bitten “on her genital area”, leaving her bleeding and requiring medical attention.

This isn't good, regardless of the outcome and for anyone to "allude" that hayne is the injured party is shocking and for it to be permitted for him to allude as much on a public forum is alarming
