Tupou has 7 try assists so he must give the ball at some point and one would imagine, most of them are to Johnstone.

Anyway, he's got pace and that's his main asset and he's done well so far in his career. Next step is for Wakey to make a semi/final/the top 4 and from him to play for England Knights to truly see how far he can go.

8 of his tries have come against bottom 4 sides this season, with only 6 against top 4 sides so it suggests he's played better and had more opportunities unsurprisingly against average or below teams. I know that will probably the case for most wingers but we need a winger who can score at the top level if we're looking at replacements for Hall.

Tom has been in excellent form. But, with Macgillivray performance last internationals you can understand why he’d be given the shirt again. Besides, Tom plays on the left and macgillivray right I believe. I presume you mean the super 8's match in which McGillvary scored once and went off injured, in which Johnstone scored 2, 1 was a walk in after an overlap the other a long distance interception which saw him start in front of McG who wasn't involved in the chase, and not the other 3 meetings in which he didn't play in 2 of them and the one he did Jerry scored 3 tries down Johnstone's side !!

He's a good player and one for the future no doubt but he's not anywhere near the class of McGillvary, Hall or even Manfredi or Davies.
just because Wakefield fans think he's the best there is doesn't make it so.

Huddersfield fans aren't too well known for facts.
If you listen to them, especially on the Kilner Bank, every pass from the opposition is forward, every tackle is foul play and their players never do anything wrong.
The most telling comment was "McGilvery not being involved in the chase" as he would have got nowhere near him and that no other player got near Johnstone.

He is not the same type of winger as Hall or McGilvery, who base a lot of their game on power but, Johnstone has pace and footwork that very few others possess. Yes, he is still learning his trade but, given that he's still 23, if he can remain fit, he should be in contention for Hall's left wing berth for England.
The guy is box office and there appears to be a fair amount of envy from the supporters of other clubs, which is great

And it's deffo the case that Hall should be replaced sooner rather than later whether by Johnstone or someone else.

Pretty even between them all 3 of them in what i think are 3 key areas of wingers perfomance, obviously Johnstone has a lot more tries, as has been pointed out a lot of those are interceptions which he's very good at, which may also skew his average gain too as his yards are not as hard earned as the other 2.

Either way we are not desperate for wingers so when Hall and McGillvary aren't available any of the likes of Johnstone, Davies, Charnley etc would all do a decent job as cover.

2. it was a wakefield fan, i presume he is, who said he'd run past Jerry, as there was no chase between them how can TJ have run past JMG?

Agree, and at the moment TJ is probably just edging it, but depends what kind of winger the coach is looking for.

Where do you get this from " as has been pointed out a lot of those are interceptions" and just how many is a lot because I've seen all of Trinity's games this season and can remember 2.

As you say, England are not short of options but, assuming he's fit, Johnstone should get his chance sooner rather than later and lets see if he can cut it at International level as clearly, it would be a step up for the lad.

What if Hall goes really well in Australia in the next 2 seasons?
