He's only doing it because he has yet to find another club, and he has no chance of 'another payday' that Leigh gave him (in writing). If it's so unfair why have the other players (bar 2) accepted pay-offs, or signed for another club then ?
So. If Leigh didn’t want to pay him that money they shouldn’t have signed a contract saying they would. He’s not demanding anything more than he is owed.
Maybe it suits those other players, that’s their prerogative. Players shouldn’t be guilt-tripped into taking less than their contractual wage.
Put it this way, if you were headhunted in your job by another company who said they’d pay you 20% more than you’re currently getting paid. So you move to them. Then a year later they ask you to take a 60% pay cut. Would you say yes? With no qualms whatsoever? Regardless of whether you’d raised your living costs commensurate with your wage rise?
And then, if you prevaricate or say no, the company goes to the press and says it’s your fault they can’t trade anymore, would you accept that?
I’d be effing furious with them and try and get every penny owed to me.
Agreed, something needs to be done. Leigh have no players, and can't sign any till the issue is resolved.
Something will be done. You will go into administration(not pay the players you owe money to) and suffer a year at the bottom of the championship then go down or just go down which is probably the best option for all.
Your job is to say to yourself on a job interview does the hiring manager likes me or not. If you aren't a particular manager's cup of tea, you haven't failed -- you've dodged a bullet.
Is administration an option when you actually have the capital available to pay off the creditors but just don't want to?
You can liquidate the company - but that would involve collecting all the debt in, paying all the creditors and then paying a dividend with any remaining funds.
You can call in adminstrators to close the business down but normally it only happens if you are insolvent and its usually a creditor that appoints them

Perhaps because they needed money, even if it was less than what was owed? Just a wild guess, like.
Do Leigh own a share of their ground? I think they do, this would have to be sold and surely cover the players wages. I think they are looking to avoid administraton at all costs, (other than the costs of players wages) to stop this happening, hence the bullying tactics trying to get players to walk away without the money their owed.

Leigh Centurions ( Sporting Club Leigh Ltd ) apparently has a 11 % stake holding in the LSV complex , that however doesn't mean that 11% has a monetary value , the club( company ) isn't allowed to borrow against that ' asset '
Warrington don't own the Halliwell Jones , they are a stakeholder ( much bigger share than Leigh ) but cannot borrow against it as an asset
Nobody ( Leigh fans ) is happy with how Derek has done this , it isn't nice , but it's done
Playing RL is the hardest team sport in the world , the players are vastly underpaid and to see players not get paid isn't what we want to see in the sport
Essentially all the players except these 2 have cut a deal and moved on to pastures new , they probably thought that by hanging on Derek would relent and pay up to get us back to focusing on building again , in the end he hasn't and into administration we go , we aren't the first , won't be the last , it's 16 years since we last did it , who knows when it might happen again

At the risk of showing favour to the Leigh Chairman. Having found themselves outside the top 4 in the Championship which, before the season started, was unimaginable. A huge financial hole opened up which then has to either be filled or an alternative found. Nobody can dispute the fact that these 2 players have contracts, which they are entitled to see fulfilled. However, if you were part of an organisation whereby EVERYONE had to take a pay cut in order for the organisation to survive, how happy would you be if all bar 2 people took a pay cut but, they dug their heels in ? You have to have sympathy for Leigh's plight and nobody wants to see yet another club go into administration but, if the contract demands/obligations of these 2 players are the difference between the "life and death" of the Leigh club, would it not be wise for them to "do their bit" and try and ensure that the club survives. After all, if Leigh do go into administration, will their contracts still be guaranteed ? (I know that wages are given priority but, are they 1005 certain to receive full payment).

That's it , they won't get much if anything
