catalans were spectacularly bad and look to be early candidates for relegation. macnamara picking up where he left off last year when they were within a whisker of relegation. If they don't get rid of him early on I can see them going down.

Well as I said around the MPG thread, we don't need this version of Catalans that we had in 2017 and suggested we'd see more of the same in 2018 from them.

TBF to McNamara whilst he's not doing well there the rot had already well and truly settled in long before he got there.

Not really, they were top of the league in May 2016. Had a dodgy start to last season, appointed McNamara and things went from bad to much, much worse. McNamara hasn't actually won a game against SL opposition during his time as Catalans coach, the only team he's beaten is Leigh.

The Masoe, Lunt and Tickle tries, absolute basics! Pub teams would be embarrassed to concede those three. I get that Mead is a big name but is he afraid to tackle? Catalans had a dig against Saints but they were appalling here. The game wasn't a good advert for the sport.

They were up at the top in May '16 but finished a a considerable 10 points off of 4th by the end of the year and were 9th in May 2017 when they sacked Frayssinous, that's pretty much a year long slump he had them on beforehand.

They will need to rely on home form again this year. Clearly there was a huge difference in standard between their two away games and their home game against Saints. They seem incapable of travelling and playing well, which is a pretty damning indictment of their professionalism.

On this form, albeit it's only week 3 of a long season, it's difficult to see anything other than a bottom four finish for a team which on paper should be better than that.

I'd say 9th is a hell of a lot better than finishing 5th in the qualifiers having barely beaten two Championship teams and looking a million miles from winning a game at SL level.
