I think a better map would be one that showed all of the RU and RL clubs, irrespective of grade as that would be more representative of interest.

A map of the football premiership is hardly one that shows a well distributed sport, London, M62 Corridor, Birmingham and Newcastle with Southampton and Swansea there too. Just one team south of Crystal Palace. A line from London to Hull hit's no other teams.

Lizzy Yarnold. Gold Medal at the winter OLYMPICS..only the 10th ever gold for GB. BBC covers the Olympics.
Max Whitlock. Multi medal winning gymnast, including Commonwealth, WORLD Champs and European games..all covered by the BBC
Adam Peaty. Commonwealth golds, 4 European Golds and a WORLD record.
Jo Pavey. Oldest ever Gold medal winner at the EUROPEAN championships
Rory McIlroy. WORLDS best golfer who won 2 of the 4 biggest tournaments in the WORLD.
Lewis Hamilton. WORLD CHAMPION
Kelly Gallagher & Charlotte Evans. First ever British winners of Gold at the WINTER PARALYMPICS
Carl Froch: WORLD CHAMPION
Charlotte Dujardin: The first British equestrian rider to be OLYMPIC, WORLD AND EUROPEAN champion at the same time.
Gareth Bale: The most expensive football player in the WORLD.

Of all of the above, only Gareth Bale should consider himself fortunate to be nominated and I doubt he'd be there at all if it weren't for Wales qualifiers (were they even shown on the BBC?)......the rest are all at the top of their sports globally, sports that are contended or played by more than 3 nations at the top level.

The Olympics, World and European Athletics, PGA tour, Formula one, Paralympics and Commonwealth games are all competitions involving dozens of nationalities, represented by people born in the countries they represent.

Sam Burgess played no international sport in 2014 and domestically, he played in a foreign competition not shown on the BBC. The Rugby league that is shown on the BBC contains either challenge cup games featuring teams from a single motorway corridor and a token French club, or a highlights show featuring teams from a single motorway corridor and a token French club.....

Did Charlotte Dujardin really become Olympic, World & European champion or did she just step in some horse sh|t once by accident?

Carl Froch is the luckiest one to be on the shortlist. He only had one fight which admittedly he did win well but against an opponent he was expected to beat comfortably several months prior but he didn't take him seriously enough. Even if it was a top 20 shortlist I wouldn't have him in it.

Dujardin currently holds the complete set of the available individual elite dressage titles; the individual Olympic freestyle, World freestyle and Grand Prix Special, and European freestyle and Grand Prix Special titles. Dujardin is the first, and to date only, rider to hold this complete set of titles at the same time.
In addition, she forms part of the current Great Britain team for Team Dressage; as such she is also the current Olympic, and a former European, Team Dressage champion.
Olympics Dressage featured teams from germany, Australia, GB, Spain, USA, Denmark, Sweden, Holland, Poland and Canada. Other than GB and Aussie, I am sure these countries have a few pub RL sides, but I suspect that most of the riders representing Germany, Australia, GB, Spain, USA, Denmark, Sweden, Holland, Poland and Canada WERE ACTUALLY BORN IN Germany, Australia, GB, Spain, USA, Denmark, Sweden, Holland, Poland and Canada....making them proper international sports with proper international reach.

Sam Burgess plied his trade in a foreign domestic sporting comp, like Gareth Bale. I suspect more of the British Public have heard of la liga and Real Madrid than even know what the NRL and Rabbitohs are.

Isn't the Moonie Massive supposed to boycotting SPOTY and refusing to pay their TV licences whilst swearing allegiance to afterthought Thursday night Sky Sports schedules catering for an increasingly irrelevant localised sport?
