There are hardly rich owners queueing up to own/buy a RL club are they, and credit for David argyle for wanting to do so. They do the best they can, with most budgeting on crowds averaging 500 -2000 spectators, apart from Bradford, Leigh, & Widnes. Hardly any of the championship/league 1 clubs have Super League asspirations, only Toronto, Toulouse, Leigh, London (last season) and maybe Widnes & Bradford Bulls do, if they can get finances in order. A lot of the 'lower league' players have got days jobs, which is better for them as when their careers finish, they're not relying on the sport to keep them in employment. Embarrassing isn't a word I would use, just a 'fact of life' about Rugby League in this country.....NO clubs make a profit worthy of mention, just ask Wigan....(The most prestigious club in our game)
The embarrassment is the fact of life that we can’t get more than say 6-10 clubs who could run a full time team. I find it massively embarrassing as an RL fan that whilst football, Union, cricket etc are off around the world we’re still the plucky local sport with our wonderful traditional ties and lauding the fact we have part time players. The fact we have part time players should never ever holdback any decision making that would improve the fortunes of clubs that CAN run full time teams.
Add to that the reduction in central funding for Championship & League 1 clubs so that SL clubs can have a bigger slice.
Championship fans want to see their club make it to SL, but most of the clubs know that it's beyond their capability to make that a reality. If you look at the Championship table over the last few years, you'll see that clubs that have been in the Championship for a long time tend to finish the season in the round about the same position year on year. Only the introduction of additional clubs has any noticeable change to their final positions
The vast majority of the money for central funding comes from the SL tv deal or internationals which are made up from SL players. I might not agree with them reducing what was given to the lower leagues but essentially it is their money in the first place. In the same way as except for parachute payments the Premier League TV money goes to the Premier League clubs only.

I find it difficult to engage with snobs like you,but I'll say this, let's go with your 6-10 clubs whoever you think they are,and we'll get rid of the rest to save your embarrassment. What ******* planet are you on?
Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.

I'll give you time (you might have to go back quite a bit) to find some post to that effect. What i will say is, I want to see how SL deal with Toronto "IF" they get promoted. I'm not bitter, I just couldn't give two hoots about them.
Every time Toronto get mentioned on here, the topic gets swiftly inundated with Leigh fans making negative comments about them. Do you honestly think the sport is in a position to be turning away a competitive full time team in a new area? Of course it isn't. We need to pursue all viable opportunities to grow, and North America is clearly a big one.

Snobs? Do you disagree that there are only 6-10 clubs who can run a full time team realistically? If not who else is there? You could try reacting to a comment like a normal human being if you like and then we could discuss it. Or you can continue to post abuse and silliness instead?
By the way have you found those derogatory comments toward part time players yet or will you admit you made that bit up?
I’m on the planet where I want a professional sport to be filled by professional clubs. Quite why you think that’s snobbish or too much to ask I have no idea.

Ask Lenagan from a financial point of view, would he ratherr travel to Leigh and Leigh visit the Dw with around 2000 speccies? or PAY to go to Toronto and have no speccies in return? How about we keep the loop fixtures next season and Wigan play Toronto about 4 times, plus any cup or play off games to add? You'll soon change your tune laddie.

I'm more bothered whats good for the sport than what's good for Wigan. Not sure you understand how loop fixtures work if you think we would play them 4 times plus cup/play offs anyway. How about we sell enough tickets to home fans? Seems to work with Catalans in the league, who don't bring many.

By derogatory, I meant your disrespectful attitude towards clubs outside of S L. Now it's time you start acting like a normal human being yourself, and stop YOUR childish silliness and STOP being,we're alright Jack, you're embarrassing us. Have your 6-10 teams if you want and get rid of the rest if it fits your agenda.

Nice one. So if Wigan started to really struggle financially, you would be happy if the game flourished without you? BTW - I do understand the loop fixtures, I was using Wigan & Toronto as an example. Talking of selling tickets to your home fans, your attendances have been going down .......haven't they?
