News Corp. didn't waste any time gloating about this one, though I agree that it isn't good a good scenario for some football clubs. Imagine the situation Super League would be in now if it switched to Setanta as many on RLFANS suggested when it arrived on the UK scene a couple of years ago.
Although the production quality of Setanta's own programmes is not on a par with its slicker counterparts, I think some of its shows are more insightful than those elsewhere. Whatever you think about Steve Bunce, his boxing hour is the best/only round up TV. The most excellent punmeister James Richardson is on fire at the moment. And it treats MMA as a reputable and reportable sport.
This is without mentioning the loss of the Australian rugby league shows and SoO & NRL coverage. I'm not confident that Sky will pick up what is left behind by Setanta bar the football coverage it is allowed to get on the cheap.
