How can we even be sure the BARB are accurate anyway? From what I've read in various articles etc they are out by 3-5% on a regular basis. I would personally take Sky's figure as they will be able to track a lot more accurately the amount of viewers watching there channel.
On top of these figures I doubt they take into account pubs and bars that have the games on as you cannot accurately predict the amount of people in each establishment. I am also interested in the figure, is this individual households that had the program on, because you cannot accurately represent the number of people in a household watching a channel. You've also got recorded copies watched later, plus people who stream illegally
If you took everything into account the real number would most likely be a lot larger than the figures presented.
...AND FINALLY...from someone I know who works for Sky in their IT department; the BARB cannot track things such as live tv through games consoles accurately and the Sky Go app etc. Therefore I would take anything presented here with a pinch of salt and more importantly I would choose to just ignore "William Eve".
I was on the BARB panel for two years before I moved house and all you really had was a listening device attached to your Sky box and your tv. We were told each adult represents 10,000 people which each person having a log in letter plus you could add a number of guests. I guess children represent a lower number when they are watching something. Also you are still counted as watching something up to seven days afterwards. They used to announce X Factor etc audiences on a Saturday night in the Sunday papers but the figure will be adjusted in the week for people watching it on catch up.

Sky can tell what is being watched with a fair bit of accuracy. They can also get a good idea of the make up those watching, How many are watching, what they regularly watch, what platform they are watching through. They have 2 companies set up which not only takes and processes huge amounts of information about their viewers and their viewing habits and how that translates into advertising opportunities and predicted advertising opportunities.
They will, pretty soon, if not now in some cases, be targeting certain advertisements to certain members of the households, at certain times, so you will get a different advert to me, who will get a different advert to an old man in Manchester, who will get a different advert to Willy Eve who will get adverts targeted at middle aged internet trolls.
I can assure you that nobody from Sky is walking in to an advertising sales pitch asking if people want to buy air-time based on BARB figures.

Official BARB viewing figures now being questioned and taken to task as being inaccurate by the RFL Moonie Massive because they don't tally with the alleged record box-office breaking viewing figures as claimed by the RFL.
Extremely questionable viewing figures by the RFL now ascribed to Sky themselves whose figures must be far more accurate and realistic than anyone else's.
Huge WOW!
You couldn't make this crap up!
Well... you could if you were a member of the unquestioningly loyal RFL Moonie Massive on this forum I suppose
McDermott is going. I actually think he is more relaxed because of it, and seems to have let the shackles go. He apparently asked to finish the season, and that is what they agreed.
Aye, usually people who don't go to any live games unless they've blagged a free ticket and are too cheap to pay for a sports channel subscription unless it's heavily discounted to the point where the channel in question probably won't continue showing (N)RL in the future due to lack of subscribers.
Funny thing is, those same people are usually the first to post about low attendance figures, dispute high TV viewing figures and incredibly have the nerve to berate those who take advantage of offers such as discounted WC tickets which enable real fans to take in more games.
The internet age has brought up a generation of users who EXPECT to be able to get everything "free". Most are dumb enough to believe that it actually IS free. Others believe it is their right to download video, films, music etc free and "do not believe" in having to pay for stuff.
The Stobart adverts weren't on the curtainsde vehicles, they were on "rigids" and it either needs a long time exposed to the elements or a tin of paint. In actual fact they are probably transfers and could be removed and something else put on instead.
I think it must be both curtainsiders and rigids because I've seen three Stobart curtainsiders tri-axle trailers with the advertising on.
RFL discovered to be talking bollox HERE about the record breaking, smashing all box office records figure of 353,000 viewers tuning into the Wigan V Huddersfield opening SL fixture on Sky Sports 1 on Friday 7th Feb.
The actual viewing figure was 243,000 according to http://www.barb.co.uk which was beaten by Premier League Darts viewing figures of 284,000 the night before (Thu 6th Feb)
Sky Sports 1 w/e 9 Feb 2014 000's 1 LIVE FORD SUPER SUNDAY - MATCH (SUN 1525) 1,910 2 LIVE FORD MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL (MON 1900) 1,598 3 LIVE FORD SUPER SUNDAY - MATCH (SUN 1230) 1,133 4 FORD SATURDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL LIVE (SAT 1657) 697 5 FL72 LIVE - YEOVIL V LEEDS (SAT 1200) 374 6 GILLETTE SOCCER SATURDAY 09-10 (SAT 1500) 338 7 LIVE PREMIER LEAGUE DARTS/#PREMIER LEAGU (THU 1900 284 8 LIVE SUPER LEAGUE (FRI 1900) 243 9 REAL MADRID V AT MADRID-LIVE (WED 1855) 241 10 REAL SOCIEDAD V LEVANTE-LIVE (SUN 1830) 219 ...(*Source: barb.co.uk)
They also told porkies about the viewing figures for the Aviva Premiership game on BT Sport 1 which registered 75,000 viewers according to BARB as opposed to the 65,200 claimed by the RFL.
BT Sport 1 w/e 9 Feb 2014 000's 1 BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE (SAT 1200) 973 2 FA CUP (WED 1915) 127 3 AVIVA PREMIERSHIP RUGBY (FRI 1900) 75 4 FRENCH LIGUE 1 (SUN 1955) 51 5 AVIVA PREMIERSHIP RUGBY (SAT 1830) 45 6 AVIVA PREMIERSHIP RUGBY (SUN 1200) 44 7 NBA (SAT 1506) 40 8 SERIE A (MON 1943) 29 9 GOAL! To summarise the RFL horseshit earlier this week..... 1. The 353,000 was actually 243,000 which was less than the 251,000 viewers who tuned into the Widnes V Wakey SL opener in 2012.
2. The alleged 38% increase in viewing figures on last season's SL opener was actually 29% (243K v 188K).
3. The alleged extra 288,000 viewers tuning into Super League on 7th Feb which was alleged to be 543% higher than the alleged viewers for the Union game on the much smaller BT Sport subscription base was actually an extra 168,000 which is 324% higher (243K v 75K).
4. I expect the RFL viewing comparison to BDO Darts on Eurosport (A desperate RFL or what? Well, they are hardly going to compare the figures with Premier League Darts for obvious reasons ) are garbage as well since according to BARB, Eurosport haven't reported any viewing figures for that week.
5. RFL Lies, Damned Lies and Statistics by plenty
Could you point me to the data?
Your link was just to the BARB website and I couldn't find any way to dig down to each broadcast and/or your league table of viewers. All I found were individual channel average weekly viewers?
Also I wasn't aware that attendance figures are banned on here?
