This was my main concern. Where was the attacking patterns/plays that we must have been working on for the last three months? We seemed to get 20 metres out and just stagnate and looked devoid of ideas.

I remember a few friendlies under Smith where we didn’t look sharp pre-season. We ended up doing okay during the main campaign though.
Except 2017, when we threw everything into beating Brisbane, only to nearly get relegated.

At least Powell admitted we were poor. Pretty sure Price would have hailed it as a good run-out.

Anyway, I’ll save my judgments until a third of the way in to the season, as disappointing as last Saturday was.

In the fans forum podcast (before the game) Powell said it remains to be seen if the squad can execute the plan under pressure.

He also said that the "challenge has been accepted" on proving the pack doubters wrong.

Jury is out on the latter but he will have got the answer on the former.

Yeah seemed the same old thing, 20 metres out and couldn't finish. Powell did say in an early interview this is something they had pin pointed as a problem area they are keen to fix.
We did have a fair few good plays and movement with the ball.....but 95% of them ended up with cocking up so no finish to them. But i think once match fitness returns the sharpness will return quickly aswell. And once Cooper and King are back we will improve, definately think Leeds is a very tough first game and will show if the toughness is in the squad
