He signed about three months ago. I've heard some very good reports about him from the Wigan scouts.
Steve Gansons son has also signed for Wigan.

Both clubs have great youth development setups. I certainly have no concerns going forward.

But these things happen in both directions. One of our young academy players (first year) got offered two contracts when he was 16. One from us and one from Wigan. He visited and held meetings with both clubs with his parents. He chose to sign for us. So, in that case Wigan lost out on a player they had specifically targeted. These things happen.

Exactly and as I said there is a great attrition at this age, particularly with the stupid U19's cut off. I was told over the weekend that there will be no changes in the age groups again in 2015 which is stupid. We need U15, U16, U18 and U21or U23. Some of that additional £300K Sky money should have been ring fenced to ensure that the clubs to provide that level of development.

Rant over.
SAINTS THE ORIGINAL AND PERENNIAL CHEATS

For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.

For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.

Wigan had eight in a row
Saints have five in a row

The current scheme is 'Embed the Pathway' and that covers up to U19's. Whilst the funding and grants are available for that scheme we won't see an amendment for sensibly reintroducing an older age group I don't think, that could be a few years.

Stupid decision by the majority of clubs to vote in the new system, I can see it setting back the development of up to 500 potential SL players and in a lot of cases completely destroying it.

One to watch next year for our u16's is Chris Follin. Played 3 games last year despite being a year younger and scored 5 try's from second row / loose. Was then picked to represent England at u16 level vs Wales in August and played very well (despite being a year younger than the majority)

I had a conversation with St Pete about this lad a couple weeks ago, he's a quality player and Saints have missed out big time.

I did mention it to few people mate but obviously like the other kid I was telling you about they left it to late. Let's hope they don't blow it with the kid I told you about, he's no got saints, Widnes, Warrington and Leeds watching him.

Rogues can be a very naughty boy at times but i fully agree with him that a lack of an U21's/23's is beyond daft. Very few young players have reached their potential by 19, especially in the forwards
Unfortunately certain chairmen have been very shortsighted and theres very little the few well run clubs can do to change this while they're in the minority.
I'm sure i read somewhere that the chairmen voted to axe the U23's as it would save £50k a year. That's chicken feed, 200 odd season tickets or about 2000 single tickets, Christ they probably make that on Beer in one game, all to support the clubs future stars!!!!!
