Unfortunately beggars can't be choosers. He's comfortably our best option. What's the alternative? McNamara? Rowley?
Remember, he came into an absolute s**t show. No discipline, no direction, no game plan, no strategy, no leadership. He's turned a lot of that round, with only a handful of new faces.
OK, we look like we'll miss out on the top 4 and will probably finish 5th. But we have shown that we can beat any other team in the league, home or away. We've cut out a lot (not all...) of the stupid mistakes and have massively upped the intensity levels under BA. Get some bodies in the pack back for the play offs and we could be in with a decent shot.
I just hope that Hull take his lad and maybe even the younger one comes over as well and we can get BA tied down to another 2 years. Then him and Blease can get to work on who we need to bring in from next season. I really hope we don't have to start all over again with a new coach.
Just my opinion.
Spot on bud. Totally agree. I think the injuries have come at the worst time too for us, if we end up 5th or 6th imo it's down to being decimated up top towards the business end and you can't blame that on the coach. The evidence is very clear that he has hugely improved us on and off the field, it's no quick turnaround to do what's needed, there's been a lot of bad years to reverse under a tight salary cap and tough economic conditions....

| One of his lads is going to Hull, but his daughter will be going home, so it sounds 50/50 he'll stay at the moment.

| I would like to have thought if he intended going home that he would have said by now and that it will be good news at the beginning of next week but it is hard to say.

| If his daughter is going home even though she and is wife said they like it here.It does make it difficult for BA even if one of his sons comes over. He still has 2 kids in Oz and a wife and kid here if Hull do sign his son. Basically it`s down to what offers BA has had in the NRL that will determine what he does next.

| Listening to his presser there's a multi year deal on the table (probably with a get out clause), upside one of his sons probably coming over, downside his daughter having to return to carry on uni. Big talk with family on Sunday, decision incoming on monday, still all specualtion until then, damn.

I'm probably in a minority here but I don't see a problem with having Paul Rowley as coach, especially considering the alternatives..

| Having watched the presser I'm now 99.9% sure he will be staying, probably for a couple of years. Sounds very much like he's a recommended a stint in SL to Jake as a way of developing his career, and to be honest I could see the same scenario play out for Matt. The expanded quota and the expanded league is certainly going to attract young players on the periphery of NRL first grade, and both are in that category. Yes, his daughter is going back to Uni, but only for a year, and students have big holidays. That can be made to work. Most importantly he likes the job, the club, and the players - and they like him. I think we'll get good news next week.

| That`s true AC his daughter being at Uni means he won`t see a lot of her whilst she`s there and the bigger holidays she gets she can travel here. And he has already stated there isn`t a job for him to go to back home so another risk him sat there waiting for the phone to ring that might never happen and he regrets his decision watching McNamara/Rowley getting the plaudits. It looks like if his son and to some extent daughter give their approval then he stays especially with the likelihood both his sons could be playing SL next year.

This was my take but it wasn't conclusive. Presumably, if he did not wish to stay, then there would be no conversation with his family on Sunday. It is more ensuring his family are ok with him staying.

| Hull should go for the Steve and Ben McNamara father-son dream team.

I tend to go the other way, if he was staying he'd have agreed then. If there's a conversation still to be had he's likely of a feeling that he's not staying and needs convincing to stay.
