| Quote GrahamBray="GrahamBray"I'd have a few of those my all time Hull team to face Leeds would be:
Kemble
O'Hara
Leuulai
R Barnett Snr
G Bray (of course)
Topliss
Sterling
Skerrrett
Swain
Crooks
Ellis
Crane
Johnny Whiteley
All Hull fans laud Norton as the greatest loose forward but I'd have Whiteley Crane and Jason Smith ahead of him and I mention Johnny Whiteley out of respect for the opinions of people who saw him and the others, they all pick him as the finest, so I am not going to argue. I think Richie Barnett senior is one of the finest and hardest backs I have ever seen and what a pair of centres they would be . Schofield would have been in but Leeds got his best years , as we did Crooksy,(Cas not involved ) so you have him and we'll keep Lee!
A special mention to Willie Manu, Lee Jackson , Gareth Carvell (yes really) Paul Rose, Albert Kelly, Colin Best, Jake Connor and Karl Harrison, all worthy of including - sorry lads can only be 13!'"
Johnny Whiteley was before my time but recognised as a great player at a time when GB had 3 great loose forwards with Turner and Karalius.
Mick Crane was good for Leeds in 1978 and good for FC & KR but I’m surprised you’d pick him ahead of Knocker who won everything with FC and the NRL with Manly, but it’s all opinions. Knocker was big mates with Les Dyl and nearly signed for Leeds but cas pulled out at last minute, shame for Leeds, great for Hull.

Shocking decision to get rid of Him Bullseye
Dave Heron was one hell of a player and IMO he would have been even better suited to the SL style
His balance and running style was so hard to defend against and was also bloody quick too

| Re that Hull team, I'd have Knocker Norton in there ahead of Crane. When you won the comp it was him and Topliss pulling the strings.

Crane on his day, which is what I was talking about with these players, was completely unplayable, a maverick and nobody, himself included, knew what he'd do when he got hold of the ball. He had so much natural ability he didn't have to try, which is probably why he never trained and often went missing for certain periods, shame really as if he had the application he'd have been one of the true all time greats of the game, but I am talking about a player that smoked and would sort his bets out as a priority over RL. On his day though a talent that in my opinion, few could match. Over a sustained period of time, I agree Norton achieved greatness but never outshone Crane when both were at their peak, I'd humbly submit.

Many thanks buddy, hope you're safe and well and looking forward to the coming season, Leeds have a great squad assembled and will be thereabouts with Saints and Cats.

Hope you are right. Think we will still be a bit behind those 2 and plenty of others in FC will be competitive. Glad FC don’t have a Crane or Knocker to link up with Connor, Reynolds and Gale
