No problem with the name 'Chiefs'. Chiefs and chiefdoms are universally accepted anthropological terms to describe certain forms of political organisation.

That said, as a resident of Exeter, it IS strange that a Rugby Union club would choose a heavily stereotyped image of a indigenous American as their logo. This is cultural appropriation in a pretty blatant form. Not all cultural appropriation is bad, but in this case it shows ignorance of the plight of indigenous Americans, who were essentially dispossessed of their land and opportunities for future wealth by European colonialists (see also the Australian experience!). People with indigenous heritage might understandably find this offensive, especially considering where that many colonials would have been of British origin!

Why not instead use something from Exeter's Roman past? Yes, the Romans were also colonialists, but the big difference is that no-one in modern Britain can claim to have been disadvantaged (or benefit) from the Roman conquest, since we no longer live in the Roman era, and any direct link to it has been lost. Like it or not, the same cannot be said of the legacy of European imperialism and colonialism.

As for the Rhino logo, it's also a strange choice but no-one can seriously claim that the Rhino will be upset by Leeds using the logo - if anything wildlife organisations seeking to protect the Rhino can benefit from this kind of exposure. We are not using it to promote harmful cultural stereotypes.

Or Exeter could use a name from their Celtic past like chiefs, Chiefs is not just referring to native Americans, keep the name change the head dress logo though.

Wokeness is out of control - it is impossible to have any kind of opinion with upsetting someone - especially the soft lefties. The trans lobby are by far the worst followed by BLM. Nobody treats black people worse than black people - nobody kills black people more than black people. To them black lives don't matter. The idea that a man with a penis puts a dress on and he is suddenly a woman is plain bonkers. It is a problem with the left they want to tell you what to think and what to say not because they are so fragile that this kind of talk upsets them.

The world is an aggressive place - once people accept that then we can all move forward. What happened in the past when standards were different shouldn't be a weapon to use today. The progress made for BAME and other minority groups has been significant in the past 20 years - look at the government 2 of the great offices of state have BAME running them the cabinet has 6 out of 24 BAME - the world has moved on.

Maybe the reason we have to have trans and gay protests as well as BLM protested, and trans rights is because of attitudes like yours, total ignorance on your part. A trans women is not simply a man wearing a dress, and even if it was why does that “offend” You so much, it affects you in no Way what soever.

As for the soft lefties, it was soft lefties that won world war 2 which people like you like to go on about.

Wow someone bit. Tbf you can't say anything these days without someone twisting it.
Just let me check. Thermos, sandwiches, corn plasters, telephone money, dandruff brush, animal footprint chart and... one triple thick condom. You never know.

Wow, the old, “you can’t say anything nowadays” response, when someone’s utter bollox has been called out.

The most contraversial comments were clearly tongue in cheek. Save some of your energy worrying about the global pandemic.

Ah you can't beat the old projected insults when someone has a difference of opinion. Maybe such incivility is why reasoned debate is so difficult to have.

Back to the OP, I am not quite sure how the name "Leeds Rhinos" applies here...
