I'm not a pheasant plucker, i'm a pheasant pluckers son and i'm only plucking pheasants till the pheasant plucker comes.

Good luck to him.
Did we get a fee?

"Look, I'd never use injuries as an excuse..." Daryl Powell

Can't really add much to what's been said. A player held in high regard by many and I wish him well.

To me it sounds like they’ve agreed to just take over the final three years of his current contract.

"Brian McDermott, with a wry smile, nods when asked if he remembers a specific incident which made him realise he was a prick. 'I do', he murmurs."

Shoddily treated by the club over the past 12 months but the right outcome in the end for him. I suspect he will go onto become a very good SL standard player.

Agree with all points and I suspect the main reason for this was down to wanting him off the wage bill.

You say shoddily treated but what else should they have done? Decision was made that Walker was ahead of him. He could maybe have featured a couple more times in first grade but I don’t see that Leeds have done wrong by him.

Not every lad will make it at a club where the ambition is to be one of the best sides in the world.

Whereas Walker still has plenty to work on and isn’t the finished article yet, he has arguably the higher potential. Then again the answer at FB might be coming through the Academy.

The club shouldn’t have given Ashton a 5 year deal in the first place really at his age but hindsight’s easy.

They told him he could leave (fair enough, change in management, didn't see him in their plans). But then to force him out they refused to even countenance picking him, even when Walker was injured, even when we were struggling and needed a safe pair of hands. Hardball maybe, but the opposite of Sinfield's "we do right by our players" mantra.

Yep that’s the part I didn’t like. Fair enough Walker’s ahead of him but when Walkers injured surely he’s your next choice.

Unless it’s a salary cap issue? I’m sure there’s a rule that if they don’t play a game then they’re not counted on the cap.
