Perfect example of a club workhorse and as others have said under rated for many seasons but was a big part of our success.

2012 GF was fantastic.

Great servant to Leeds, deserved a proper send off too. Really enjoyed his performance in the 2012 GF against Warrington, did a great job covering centre that year too.

His ability to get punched in the face for no apparent reason was second to none.

My personal highlight will be him stroking Myler's leg as he went to feed the scrum when he was at Catlans. Myler lost it completely and Ablett stood with a trademark grin.

Thanks for the memories Carl!

Massively under rated and a true unsung hero with the knack of getting under the oppositions skin. Hope he gets a good reception on Friday along with JJB of course. Thanks for your efforts Carl

The way he has ended his career says everything about what he has been for Leeds - a loyal servant to the club

Others may have sat on the physio table or bench and claimed their second year salary. He hasn't, he's done right by himself and the club.

Sad to see it end this way but he has had a heck of a career.

Say’s everything you need to know in the interview on the official website......

"Carl, seven Grand Finals, seven wins"

Quite remarkable when you think about it.

Loved his rivalry with Briers, although don’t know where it came from. Never tire of watching Ablett run over him at Old Trafford.

Hope he gets a big send off on Friday night.

One of my favourites of the goldens; annoyed opposition fans, and opposition players at times, just by being who he is. Annoyed them more with those tries in the corner in big games though.
Happy retirement Carl.
"Brian McDermott, with a wry smile, nods when asked if he remembers a specific incident which made him realise he was a prick. 'I do', he murmurs."

Last if the Goldens now officially gone - end of the era.

I really hope some of those Academy lads are talking and telling each other they’ll be the next ones to come through together and work for that success. It’s the humility and work ethic, team first mentality that really set that generation apart. Supremely talented players but humble and grafting.

There are a lot of really decent lads in there as well as superstars of RL.

Really looking forward to seeing some of these fresh-faced lads with dodgy haircuts develop into seasoned professional players.
