So it seems Arsenal look to be in pole position for Raphinha then.. Barca well out of it unless magic up funds from somewhere and sell about 3 or 4 players to release salary cap space.

Would be a strange move for him imo, Arsenal look a way off being regular champions league material.. undoubtedly a step up from Leeds but not as big as he would hope... be interesting to see what happens with the player here if they pay the £60m etc..

There's also nowhere near enough tough talk coming from Leeds around Phillips and Raph... we seem far to up for letting them go .. other clubs must be rubbing their hands. Saw Simon Jordan talking about this today and he was absolutely right, Leeds should be building the club around these players or getting serious serious top dollar for both so can re invest properly !

I agree. Raph will be a massive loss in terms of goals and chances created. If they both leave and we buy 3/4 guys at £25m each is a big risk, you can buy some real 5hit these days for £25m. Look at Firpo at £13m he defends like a pub player.
Without the input of Raphinha last year Leeds go down by 6 points or more

Absolutely. Villa was a casing point last season, they bought some rubbish with much of the Grealish money. Fab Romano has said we're after Charles DeKetelaere from Bruges. Meant to be a huge Belgian talent, can play 9, attacking mid and wing. only if Raph goes though i believe.. also looking at Cody Gakpo, dutch winger. He seems to be a top young talent too but as we say, always a gamble. Still not sure we can let both KP and Raph go in one window....

Gone quiet on the striker front too... thats a big time priority, wonder if they're waiting for funds from sales now...

I know nothing about either of them, if they come in just have to hope they are like Raphinha not Firpo. Player judgment is such a key skill. Peter Taylor would be worth his weight in gold if he were around these days.
Think we should have gone for Senior Firpo last year !

Gakpo is a winger, 23 Dutch player of the season. Exciting talent. DeKetelaere Bruges best player Beligian international touted as next De Bryune. Scores and creates plenty, age 22 or 21 I believe

So looks like Man City have agreed a £45m fee for Phillips, with Darko Gyabi coming to Leeds for £5m. So essentially, we're selling Phillips for £40m

We should be getting 55/60 million.

We'll see. There's lots of conflicting reports about the fee, but it also sounds like Phillips only wanted to leave for City, so the club may not of had much choice if they wanted to cash in. Personally, I don't care about the fee, it's who we get to replace him that matters.

I just don't get the mentality of swapping being a guaranteed starter in the PL for your boyhood team for being second choice at city..yes sure he'll play a few champions League games, but not the ones that really matter. He'll go well, but I just don't see the benefit for himapart from cash in his pocket

I suppose he will get a run of games in the Cup games and get the opportunity to play at Wembley in a Cup final.
Something he is unlikely to do at Leeds.
He will also be playing with better players and a better manager.
Added to that he is probably getting 3 times his weekly wage.
At this stage of his career I reckon it`s a no brainer for him.
Let`s hope we can find a suitable replacement like Jack Burton has said.
