So Salford want 400k for Hastings mid season as we want him now. Personally I think we are getting him. Yeah it’s expensive seen as though he is off contract at the end of the season, but he will definitely sort out half problems out, it will secure him then as Wigan can’t get him till next season. If we offered 500k for Connor, in terms of avoiding relegation this is a no brainer.

If it's 400k for a 3 and a half year deal that's one thing, if it's 400k until the end of this season it's nonsense.

Is it a £400k loan for this season though with him going to Wigan next season?

IF that is the case then it depends on what the club know of any intentions of SL to chance course again and agree on no relegation and say a 14 team SL next season?

If that were to happen and if Hastings is only a loan for the rest of this season then paying £400k now for 11 games would be madness.

So that asks the question if there is going to be relegation as things stand then is it worth paying £400k for a loan move knowing it COULD mean we avoid relegation but equally there could be a risk he gets a season ending injury 2 games into his 11 game loan?

If things are staying the same with relegation then I’d be happy paying £400k to get him now if it means we sign him on say a 3 year deal with his NRL clause but with the proviso he stays with us for at least all of next season

Would I pay £400k now if it’s only an 11 game loan before he goes to Wigan ne t year? Not sure?

We can't possibly be paying that much for the remainder of the season, that would be utter incompetence. Personally I think it would be incompetent paying that amount to buy him on a long term contract. He is out of contract in a few months, and free.

Theres no way on this earth we'r paying 400k for an 11 game loan. If we'r paying 400k it will be a long term contract, with Hastings having to accept a season in the championship potentially, or a release clause that if relegated, if somone offers us close to our money back, he can go.

Someone like Mellor might have a get out clause with no restrictions if we'r relegated, because we'r not paying a fee so we'r not really losing out.

Theres no chance we'r paying one of the biggest fee's ever for an 11 game stretch with no protection on our investment.

Wigan made a similar move for Fielden back in 2006, when they were struggling with the threat of relegation, and a large transfer fee was involved IIRC.
