PEOPLE BEFORE PROFIT!

Two really poor teams errors with ball all over pitch no attacking threat with ball from either team. Thankfully for us we've come out on right-side of result got 2 desperately needed points. O'Connor, Gannon gave great effort for young lads some great carries, Oledski gave a very strong performance again gave a brave and excellent pass in golden point for Hurrell too make his break, Hurrell himself came up with 2 big plays his try & break in GP but had plenty of errors too go a long side those. Prior worked hard as usual apart from that can't think of anyone else who had a half decent game. Gale was trying too lead us but looked rusty after being out a few weeks he stepped up when we needed him with the drop goal was very calm and we'd have probably not got too golden point if he didn't play tonight. I for one think we need the captains challenge like the NRL because the amount of decisions officials get wrong and change momentum and cost teams is ridiculous. Anyway a wins a win a couple more troops back and hopefully of a more balanced team and see how we go.

Agreed on captains challenge. Really poor refereeing tonight. Wakey drop goal should never have been allowed. Right result in the end, but felt like we were playing a Championship team. No Johnstone and Fafita went off injured.

Wasnt pretty, wasnt fluid, most of the time it wasnt organised but again the effort was there in bucketloads. The criticism of the team which is clearly giving its all is beyond a joke from our own "supporters". Weve kids all over the park, weve players playing out of position, weve players just returning from injury and around 10 players out. What the hell are you expecting the team to look like?

Our best 2 players this season Mikolaj and Prior have played most weeks, havent had injuries and have played in their natural positons. Funny that isnt it?

Have to say while the last penalty was the correct call it was marginal but the penalty to get Wakey level at 12 all for the tackle by Luke Briscoe, while again by the letter of the law was a correct call but if tackles like that are penalties the game needs to look at the rules again.

People saying Walters doesnt work hard enough, he makes 40 tackles most weeks, hes a kid and has played a lot of minutes this season already. He was off tonight, that happens with young forwards especially. Hes had a lot on his plate the last few months and has done well.

Broadbent has been solid and done a nice job for us but were beginning to see some weariness in him now, hes played every game apart from KR and its not easy for these kids. Hes not a natural full back and Myler should improve the team on his return hopefully.

I thought O'Connor played well, he will make 50 tackles most weeks in the middle of the park which is superb for any team. Hes a good kid.

Koni was hit and miss tonight but he is our biggest threat, needs a run of games now. Sutcliife, Mellor and Martin improved in the 2nd half.

Defensively we was ok, particularly in restricting yardage i thought. Like i say i thought the effort was there for all to see again.

Kicking game and last tackle plays very poor again but really we are playing with 1 half who is just returning from injury. Dummy half distribution well lets be kind and say it was bloody awful. People calling for both Leeming and Dwyer on at the same time must watch different stuff to me Im afraid.

Morgan Gannon superb, playing as a 17 year old prop tonight. Magnificent. No doubt people will call for him to play every week until he drops a ball when he will turn into another bum. Lets be patient with him. Bring him through gradually and weve a good one there. He looks very comfortable at this level.

Hopefully the return of Myler and Tetevano will help the team.

We needed a result tonight and got one. Lets be thankful for that and move onto next week.

Good balanced post. Didn't watch the gane live, listened on radio and caught some highlights. I can forgive the errors as long as the effort is there. I don't think the overall standard in SL is very high and we're not that far off some of the others....
You'd think we'd lost by 50 on here.....!

Well summarised.
I have been impressed with O'Connor most times he has played and last night he was really good. His lack of height is the only reason to question where is best position will be. If he was a bit bigger probably no one would question his future as a backrower. He still seems to make yardage when taking the ball up and looks an excellent defender who reads the game well. Whether the coaching staff plan to try and convert him to hooker or keep him as a loose forward/ backrower I don't know but he looks to have a future at SL level

The effort was there yes & ive not seen ANYONE criticise the youngsters so dont know what point you're trying make there.
We still have enough 1st Team experience to resemble some sort of orgsnised Team with a game plan & there's nothing wrong with expecting that.
Agree with everything else.
The win was vital it was very ugly but its a win & hopefully something we can build on but lets be clear the next phase of recruitment needs to be much better otherwise its a long time before we're genuine GF contenders.

Was a shame it was such a low quality game.

Not sure on the numbers the YouTube stream generated, but I'm certain there was people new to rugby league watching last night and I bet they didn't think much to it at all

Don't expect miracles on recruitment front. We'll add a few good players, but loose a few too. We have to commit and go with what we've got. If we can see Walker/Myler Gale and Eastmond on the field together, with a Hooker who can pass we'll be right up there again...
Our pack will hold it's own with anyone.
Tet back now. That will make massive difference. Should never have been banned........

Gannon looked really really classy for his age, incredible talent, can't wait to watch him develop.

O'Connor was class too. Showed a lot in attack and bags and bags of energy in defence. Should be in our 17 going forward just on his current form.

Gale back from another injury set back, I'm well aware, but I just find his attack so basic. Left edge, left edge, left edge. Can read him like a book. Would prefer him to mix things up. Especially when he is the only half we have out there at the moment.
