Every player in our squad could probably earn more money with another club. But they prefer to sacrifice a few extra quid in their back pocket to share special memories. And playing at a place like Old Trafford on a night like this makes it all worthwhile.

Really are a fekwitt of the highest order.

If you are uncomfortable with acknowledging the potential for a huge spike in obesity and unhealthy eating among schoolkids as the Olympic Games exclusively extol the virtues of McDonalds, you could always quote a reliable source like erm... Professor Paul Gately, Carnegie professor of exercise and obesity at Leeds Metropolitan University, who said: "When you look at the significant engagement and reach McDonald's has, that provides a really great platform. It also really understands customers and how to talk to them. By providing them with the right information, McDonald's is capable of switching kids on to physical activity and exercise, much more than what we've seen in previous public health campaigns. It can really contribute to the legacy objectives of 2012."

Professor Paul Gately also happens to be a member of McDonald's "global advisory council" :)

There's more chance of hundreds of thousands of school children pigging out on extra burgers, fries, milkshakes and happy meals than actively engaging in a national physical activity program of school games.

I see.

What are they based upon? Do you have anything to substantiate that these "alternative projects" have been scuppered as a direct result of winning the olympic bid?

As you have done above.

I note you don't deny the charges of hypocrisy and that is to your credit because your hypocrisy is plain for all to see and I just felt you needed calling on it.

Last night I played tag rugby for two hours then got a McChicken Sandwich meal on the way home. Had to suffice with large as they don't super size them any more :(

McDonald's don't sponsor Rawdon Rhinos.

Like I said, you've been hypocritical in your condemnation of Seth. Therefore, you're a hypocrite.

And an assumer.

Re: Olympic Torch Farce : Thu Jun 28, 2012 11:55 am
Whilst waiting for the Gareth person to update us on numbers re the permanent jobs thingy, I managed to contain my excitement by having a quick look at past Olympics.

Did you know that in the 1904 Olympics, provision was made for those deemed as primitives, ie Pygmies and Patagonians, to compete in their own special section? They could achieve sporting excellence in such events as mud fighting, greased-pole climbing, rock throwing, and spear throwing!

Howzabout a Gold Medal in Painting? Step forward Jean Jacoby of Luxemburg, a double Gold winner in 1924 and 1928 with his drawing of two rugby players entitled...."Rugby"

Sadly 1932 was the only appearance of Sled dog Racing

I hope the anticipated millions are not disappointed, as 2012 has a lot to live up to......

Can't we just bring back "World of Sport" with Dickie Davies instead?

At least it wouldn't cost £10 billion.
