I thought yesterday's attendance figure 15K plus was surprisingly large considering the opponents. The Western Terrace seemed to be very sparsely occupied - no doubt due to the weather. What was good was seeing so many youngsters at the ground (& on it at half-time), we need to encourage them since they are the future of the game both on & off the pitch. Just as long as they don't sit next to me!!
That started in 2012 so shouldn't really make a big difference
No they didn't. Apart from a traditional couple of games on the Thursday at Easter then their wasn't a single Thursday night game in 2012. Similar story in 2013, until the final weekly round when Leeds played Wigan away in the game with the Superman shirts.

No they weren't, the changes were decided and voted on in January 2014.
Is part of the thing of attendances being down because of their being less teams in SL this year? Plus from now, the overall attendance figures will massively be influenced by whoever is in SL that season. Imagine the figures would be better for this year had Salford gone down instead of Bradford. Similarly, if somehow Leeds and Wigan went down in 2016 and Halifax and Fev went up, the figures would 'go down' disastrously in 2017. Reverting back to football (as I often do), I would expect the average attendance in the Championship increased noticeably in 09/10 when Newcastle were in it and getting like 42k fans every other week - that doesn't necessarily mean that it had developed in popularity that year, just that one of the teams happened to be one that brought huge numbers compared to others - I remember being one of about 2000 NUFC fans away on a weeknight at Scunthorpe for what was a 9000 sell out for them as that is / was all they could hold.
The 2012 figure rising up is massively helped by a number of factors. Saints played 2011 at Widnes' ground and averaged in 7,000's.....2012 at their new home it almost doubled to just short of 14,000. Salford saw an increase with their first year at the AJ Bell. Hudds and Bradford gave away cheap Season tickets and Widnes replaced Crusaders and got a decent sized chunk more fans than them throughout the year.

Midweek Super League fixtures began in 2012.

Nope. Im afraid you are betraying your lack of understanding about the structure of our game and who controls what.
The process for admittance to SL is controlled by the RFL, the RFL had told the clubs as early as March 2013 that P+R would be coming back in one of three forms, this system, 2 x 10 with P+R or 12 + 10 P+R. Those proposals were firmed up and put to SL clubs in October 2013 some SL clubs declared they were massively against the change, along with the players union who were overwhelmingly against them. After this 6 SL clubs walked out of the EGM to vote on the proposal to bring SL down to 12 to prevent the quorum being met and any vote counting, this vote being for the change to 12. After that another EGM was called for January with Nigel Wood telling the clubs they could either vote for a reduction to 12, or 2 teams would be relegated at the end of 2014 and a version of the 3x8 system would be put in place with 14 sides. The RFL then gave every club an advance of 300k including some who were against the change, and the reduction to 12 was voted in by 7-6 with Les Catalans abstaining. It was voted on by the other parts of the game in July 2013.

Bradford sold more season tickets in 2011 than 2012. Saints growth from 2011 to 2012 has nothing to do with the falls since. The same for Widnes replacing Crusaders.
Go on then, list ALL the Thursday night games played in 2012?

It was January 2014 then. You tried attributing a fall in 2013 attendances to "changes being put in place in 2013".......as if less people decided not to go to games that year because of some meetings taking place to discuss the format for future years was a factor.
Here we go again, another pointless debate between Printer & Smokey TA.
You do realise you don't have to read this particular thread don't you? They're several other ongoing threads on this board and you just posting "yawn yawn yawn" and "pointless" are actually the most pointless posts being made.

Do you not remember all the midweek games held in 2012? I remember them being played. A pretty big deal was made about us moving from Saturdays to mid-week for the first time.

nope the RFL put in place the new structure for the admittance and removal of teams from Super League in July 2013.
I didn't attribute a fall in attendances to changes put in place in 2013. I said that was the reason I used the year 2012 as it was the last full year before the RFL put the changes in place in 2013. Which they did.

Unlike yours however, there is a hint of truth to them.
