Re: Sheffield away : Sat Aug 13, 2022 8:07 am
I thought that was a really good win considering the first half performance. Nothing was going right for us and Salty's offload in the last minute which lead to another Sheffield try from the next set really summed our half up. Really, really good 2nd half though and we showed a lot of character to come back and win. Apparently Jouffret has a foot infection which stopped him playing but I thought Aston was the best player on the pitch for us and it says a lot about him, and a lot about our group of players, because that can't have been easy coming straight back in to the team against his dads team and recent team mates but to come up with a performance like that I feel deserves real credit.

On to the next game and I just have a feeling with these niggles and bans that come the end of the season we are going to head to the Fev game and then the play offs with a pretty fresh squad compared to others. For me we can still afford 1 loss to grab 3rd so the Widnes game is going to be huge.

I could not make it to this one but it sounds like Cory had a blinder. I wonder what dad had to say to him after the match?

Should be an entertaining Sunday dinner in the Aston household.

Aston's display certainly shut me up! It must have been really strange for him but he did the job. Well done Cory!

He was saying to the players’ well this is rubbish isn’t it eh eh ?’ ‘ what’s grixy doing sitting up there for ?’ Should be down here in the dugout ‘ bloody useless’ sounded like something from a phoenix nights sketch , I had to chuckle, all these massive blokes being berated by the smallest man I’ve ever seen .

Just to be clear that was not me i am a fair bit bigger for a start and would not behave like that. To be fair i was also not best pleased with our first half performance everything simon says in is post match interview about our first half i agree with the players needed a kick up the backside at halftime and he gave it to them. That second half was much better and it just goes to show we can play a mix of hard nosed high completion rugby and still move the ball about and score some nice tries. Credit to cory for his performance he as given simon a good headache when louis is fit to return and i saw woody doing his rehab on the pitch pre match he was i would guess running at half pace fingers crossed as long as he as no setbacks he could return quicker then first thought. And what's happened to Arundel all of a sudden he his scoring tries and looking more of a threat especially close to the line.

What a miserable git - what a contrast to his son who spoke honestly and with a lot more dignity than his dad!
