Halifax Eliminate The Bulls In Cup Thriller

The last Coral Challenge Cup quarter final was probably the most anticipated of the week as Championship sides Bradford Bulls and Halifax went head to head to become the first semi-finalists from outside Super League since Hull Kingston Rovers in 2006.

There was added spice in that the two sides are currently level on league points in the Championship table, and that their stadiums are only separated by six West Yorkshire miles. The two sides have met twice in 2019 with honours shared, Halifax winning on the last meeting a fortnight ago by 21-14 at the summer bash.

The Bulls were firm home favourites with the bookies and who would bet against them after their sensational victory over the Leeds Rhinos in the last round. A place alongside Hull FC, Warrington Wolves and St Helens in the semi-finals awaited the winner.

Challenge cup semi final here we come. Obviously not the Bradford fans doing but all the media coverage beforehand seemed to talk about the Bulls and how they are heading "back where they belong" so it was nice to burst that bubble. The game itself I thought we dominated for long periods but those 2 errors that lead to trys probably knocked our confidence a bit but the reality was apart from Bradford's 1st try they never really troubled us although it was worrying that we looked to struggle to break them down but from distance it always looked like we might have too much flair for them.

What a season who would have thought we would have started so poorly, Marshall get sacked, and make a Challenge cup semi.

Today, Yesterday and the week leading up as really been a disgrace on the Beeb both at National and Local .

There was always 2 teams that have suffered the same misfortunes of relegation from SL and the struggle that happened after promotion never happened the year after.

As for look north ....

How many Bradford and ex Bradford were working this weekend?

Anyway i was confident for fax and im made up for all those fans who still go home n away whenever they can . Enjoy your semi day out

Well played Fax. A proper quarter final and worthy winners. No one can doubt that you deserved it and I hope the club get some decent money for making the semi final.

Have to give some credit to Grix for ensuring Woody and Salty both got game time last week without showing his hand for the cup match. Just frustrating that we lost 2 league points but hopefully the uplift in confidence will make up for that.
