Col but for me I do not see what progress to the game a Bonus Point brings. And if we must have it why not all the Leagues? There are many things that need sorting in our game before we start looking at Bonus Points but the RFL have no interest. The standards of Match Officials for one. The same rules for ALL clubs being another. And there are many more besides. I see no reason why a losing team should get a bonus point. A loser deserves nothing!
Tell me what will, or how we will ever improve match officials ?
Never ever in the history of the game have they had so much support from the governing bodies, the money that SKY has poured into RL at the top tier is obscene, yet it brought the technology of the video ref to judge on contentious try scoring acts, yet they still get them wrong on a regular basis !!!
The guys are fitness tested to decent standards, well paid and supported with in-goal t/j's and all the crap that goes with it, yet the game is played at too quick a pace for both the mind and the body of the officials.
Going back to the BP, my simple answer is that too many fixtures become one-sided affairs and the game comes under the banner of the "entertainment business", it's simple to me, it keeps an interest in the game when teams could withdraw their key players to hold them back for future matches when going behind in games and not attempt to stay within a chance of retrieving something from a fixture.
Why award 3 points for a league match victory, what was wrong with 2 points for a win ?
Why do the home & away team get equal league points for a drawn game when surely the away team deserve more for their efforts ?
Why do NRC semi finals have a home & away team and not play at a neutral venue ?
