Brent Webb is idelined with a back injury for up to six months. Canberra's star full back and beer guzzler Josh Dugan has just been sacked. http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/ ... 6596729134 Brisbane and Penrith are interested in Dugan, so not everyone thinks that he is unreformable. So should Catalans deregister Brent Webb for his year and buy Dugan for a year? There is a non-identical but similiar precedent of when bad boy Greg Bird was fired by Cronulla, Catalans signed him up. Bird was a tremendous success in Perpignan and his year with Catalans may have saved his career.

A move to France could be the thing to turn Josh around. He won't accept the required paycut though.

If the NRL deregisters him he may have limited options. So he may accept a paycut. I assume Greg Bird did when he came to France.

I just read that St. George is the only NRL club that might be interested in him. However they would still have to convince the NRL that he should be reregistered. He was on a massive salary of $1.3m over two years! http://www.nrl.com.au/nrls-dragons-loom ... fault.aspx

if St George can't take him then it makes no odds what salary he was on......no club ...no pay.... so a move France and playing is better than no job....even if it is a lower salary, unless he can afford not to be earning at all

Gold Coast went after Lyon pretty hard in the preseason, wouldn't surprise me if they used the cash set aside for him to get Dugan.

Canberra have winger Reece Robinson lined up as full back, which is where he played much of last season because of injuries to Dugan.
