A Look North reporter on BBC News this morning, talking of a man who'd had a leg amputated and worrying if he could carry the Olympic torch out of Grimsby, 'but he managed the whole leg'.
Missed two programmes I'd pencilled in for last evening after too many Artois's yesterday afty. 'Lifers' and 'Talbutblond' will have to get the 4od treatment. Been watching 'The World at War' (again) epic series on Yesterday. Quite superb and still stands the test of time with the great Olivier narrating. 'Remember' (the day the soldiers came), which is the last episode, is possibly the most inspirational anti-war message ever sent out.

I'd have to disagree. Stewart is exceptional, both as a comedian/satirist and as a serious interviewer. I like Oliver, but Stewart is undoubtedly the brains behind the whole thing.

Looking at tomorrow's panel for Question Time, it should be a must-see:
On the panel:
Transport Secretary Justine Greening MP, - should be fun after yesterday
Shadow Olympics Minister Tessa Jowell MP, - yawn
former leader of the Liberal Democrats Paddy Ashdown, - yawn but with some sense
comic actor & broadcaster Tony Robinson - Hopefully he'll be in Baldrick character
and the businessman Terry Smith, chief executive of the City brokerage Tullett Prebon. - Who he you may ask? Just look at His blog and you'll get some idea. He thinks that spending and taxes should be slashed, especially in the HNS, where the only things sacred would be cancer, pregnancy and genuine A&E. He also believes that public sector pension age should be raised by at least ten years.

I'll probably end up giving that one a miss again. Isn't Robinson a Blairite? Get Mark Steel back on or even Griff. The Labour politicians are a waste of space.

I agree, that's why I'm thankful we still have union leaders invited on occasionally and I'd also rotate Mark Steel & Owen jones on a regular basis. But it should be worth a watch for Terry Smith alone - an East End barrow-boy, made-good, who now thinks that all of his success had buggerall to do with any benefits from the welfare state. Had it not been for the likes of Beveridge, Attlee & Bevan, he would probably have died of consumption as a child.
