I'm like the Batman to your Joker, the Holmes to your Moriarty - you feel incomplete without our jousting!

In actual fact, I first saw the odds-setting sermon several years ago and being totally unfamiliar with the inside of a bookies, it taught me something I didn't know; believe it or not, I was paying you a compliment, however backhanded it may have seemed.

I guess when bookies set long odds against your own team, if you don't understand how it works, it can feel personal and appear that they don't know what they're talking about; when you realise it's all down to algorithms and loss leaders, it makes a bit more sense. At least it did to me.
