According to Aussie news overnight, Aiton is not being offered the same 'deals' as the NRL players and he's looking at a 2 year ban

I wouldn't trust the Aussie news as far as I could throw Shaun McRae.

But even if they're right then ASADA have completely cocked it up. You can't punish 2 people differently for the exact same crime.

But to be fair to the RFL they are generally subjective opinions on the seriousness of a tackle or incident and involving with varying disciplinary records.

In this case, as far as I know, none of the players involved have previous for this and since it was team administered there can't be one player who somehow committed a worse offence than anyone else.

So everyone has to receive the same punishment for the same offence. If not then Aiton, or anyone else's, legal team will have a field day with it.

Didn't the news of the sanctions break just prior to Leeds' Challenge Cup final appearance where those players accepting the short-term bans were stood down from playing with immediate effect? In that scenario I could perhaps understand Aiton not wishing to lose his (if selected) unique place in the history of the comp.

Not saying that is what happened but I seem to recall the thought crossing my mind at the time.

Yep, and had he done that I could understand.

Though according to Aiton and Leeds, Aiton never received an offer to do that nor has he had any contact at all. I think the same is true for Pomeroy at Catalans.

Which, if true, leaves ASADA up a tree without a paddle.
Also, if what the SMH says about ASADA not contacting players because they didn't have their address, ie they'd moved from Cronulla, is correct then they're rivalling the RFL, Phones4U and the Tory Party for the Most Shoddily Run Organisation award.

Yes and Aiton's for the high jump, good job he hopped it or they'd have boxed his ears, fined him and pouched the money
