Surprisingly the Two Hull Teams between them have imported 9 New to SL overseas players between them. Hull KR 6 & Hull FC 3
the other 10 SL teams account for only 6... Cas - Junior Moors & Ben Roberts Wire - Ashton Sims Leeds - Adam Cuthbertson Catalan - Todd Carney- Willie Tonga. the other teams have only signed non Fed players already in/ known to the Comp
More overseas Players retired or went back to NRL than were brought in by the above :- Willie Manu , Michael Monaghan, Francis Meli, Brent Webb, Justin Poore Retired, Sam Williams , Antonio Kaufusi, Kris Keating, Shannan Mcpherson , Steve Rapira,Jason Chan, Neville Costigan, Sia Soliola, Blake Green went home.
With Apparently Leeds Wigan Warrington Saints looking to their Academies Outside of Wigan , Hull has the biggest catchment area for Club trained players, is this influx of signings a testament to the paucity of talent in the area or a failure to capitalise on it ? honest question not a dig ..
Hull have brought in two overseas players, Minichiello and Michaels, not three. And two out, Miller & Heremaia.
Overall we have 7: Rankin, Paleaaesina, Paea, Michaels, Minichiello, Sa, Talanoa.
7 is too many for us, IMO. I'd much prefer us to mave a squad along the lines of Huddersfield.
Regarding the catchment area, I'd argue that the Hull catchment area isn't as big as some might think. Hull has a population of what, 260k-ish, shared between two clubs. Leeds (where I'm involved in junior RL) have the city, which is three times bigger than Hull, to themselves.
That said, the catchment isn't the problem, the players are out there, it's what the club does with them (or hasn't done) to bring them through, which has been the problem. If you looked at the number and quality of juniors we've brought through, there is a clear dip from say 2008ish to probably 2013. This, we've been told by Pearson, is due to a massive under investment in our youth setup from the old board, which we're still feeling the legacy of now.
Since Pearson has been here, he's invested heavily in our youth set up in order to rectify this. In the last 2/3 seasons we've seen the emergence of Jamie Shaul, Chris Green, Dean Hadley, Josh Bowden, Ben Crooks & Tom Lineham break into the 17 (ok, maybe chalk Crooks off that list). We've had four players in the recent England academy squad (Logan, Turgut, Abdull & Lancaster), as well as the Tyson-Wilson brothers who'll both feature at some point his season (Harry made his debut last year). James Cunningham who was on loan at London last season will likely get game time too, due to our lack of options at hooker.
Hopefully we're heading in the right direction, time will tell.

I assume you are including Naughton as a Hull FC import? He is English.
At Hull we are actually in the best place we have been for a long time with regards to youth development. We've had 4 guys play for England academy in the current series. Shaul, Lineham, Green, Bowden, Hadley, Abdull, Lancaster, Logan, Tyson Wilson, Cunningham. All good young players who have been given their debuts over the last two or three years. Not to mention Turgut who hasn't played yet but is captaining England.
Just a reminder, if you already voted in the poll earlier, before I accidentally wiped out the results (by inserting the name Terence Campese on to the list), please place your vote again.
You can also change your vote at any time. The only restriction is to choose a maximum of two (2) players.

The influx of signings is most probably indicative of a few factors, but the main one is that we have had a massive overhaul of playing staff at HKR. Our academy structures struggle to produce 2 or 3 good youngsters a year, so to replace 13 (15/16 if you include loans) of last seasons squad was going to be a big ask.
That said our struggles are being compounded by the fact that Hull seem to have wised up a great deal, after a number of years of underinvestment in their academies and whilst I see ours is improving you only need look at the academies you mention to see we are way behind them - we are however not alone in this respect.
Todd Carney is still narrowly ahead in the poll. However we have recorded only one third of the votes that were recorded in the previous poll, before Terence Campese was added to the list.
Please vote, if you haven't already done so, in the new poll.

Try doing some homework on fc before criticising our junior and academy system. 3 players in the England academy team last Friday night and another the week before, Abdul taking the mom last Friday.
