Just in case you already haven't, I have just emailed Gus now with this outstanding and dare I say, genius concept. I have no doubt that he will implement it immediately with a view to ensuring that the team run out to a packed Twickenham Stoop for the first game of 2013. It's so beautifully simple, I'm surprised that the collection and surveying of data has never been thought of before.....

In addition, I have just sent a text to Sir Martin Sorrell, highlighting your potential as one to watch in the future.......such foresight and invention should take you far Moe....

If you can't see the delicious irony in this statement, then I truly fear for your contact with reality

As sarcastic as you're being, I think you have missed the point I tried to make.

My Dad got an e-mail about the Leeds game (something about £10 tickets) and told me about it. I have also bought tickets online, like my Dad. However, I never 'got' this e-mail. Well, I must have got it but never opened it because its in a junk e-mail account. If the club had sent a letter through my door, addressed to me and everyone else on the database, I'd have opened the letter and seen it.

Again, a whooosh moment.

That e-mail account is filled with thousands of notifications from Facebook, Twitter, Job vacancy updates etc. I have my own e-mail account for everything else, I haven't used this account to buy tickets.

My point was that many people, myself included, wouldn't see the e-mail and that was represented by the attendance on Saturday.

So now its the clubs fault that you decide to have two e-mail addresses? And I suppose according to you, this is standard practice.

You obviously didn't care about recieving offers when you assigned your "junk email" address to recieve offers. Either that, or you didn't care about confirmation e-mails going to the "junk email" address too. I like to look after my confirmation emails.

Personally, I open every e-mail I recieve as I am intelligent enough to turn off Facebook/Twitter notifications and have adjusted by spam filter accordingly. I'm mad me. I might even set up an e-mail address devoted to Rugby League offers, just so I don't miss anything.

Not at all.....just as a Direct Communications specialist and now a Direct Marketing professional, I can tell you that given the club don't have a pot-to-piss-in, spending money on design, print, mail processing and a stamp would be a total waste of time.
I'd hazzard a guess you've recently read a DM article saying how direct mail is the way forward
Furthermore, the club have historically failed to collect data....and when they moved to the stoop and up to 2009 IIRC, they had to ask permission to use the ticket sales data as it was handled by the other lot.
Lastly...on the subject of data collection and surveys.....
POINTS 1 AND 2 and I freely admit that they weren't ideas that I came up with...just common sense.

Still....a move East will sort everything out
