NK is right in stating that we would need sponsorship however, it isn't beyond belief if there was the desire within SL and Sky to deliver such a competition.
I thought the concept of the magic weekend was to take the game to new regions to help develop the game outside its historical heartlands? Have we seen any evidence of this?
I am still in the camp of spreading the gospel and if the magic weekend hasn't worked then let's try something else hence my suggestion of a nines competition.
By the way the suggestion that Waney would play only kids in such a competition if it was marketed correctly is way off the mark.

While I have some misgivings about the MW - the imbalance in the fixture list it creates being the main one - I would much, much rather watch the 13-man format than I would a 9s tournament. I can see why the latter is successful in union, where open rugby is very much at a premium but I don't really think it brings anything extra to league. I can only speak for myself but my interest in attending a 9s tournament would be zero.
