I think this is our best squad since 2004... the rest depends on how good the competition is and how well they play against us.

I think the whole shooting match will be close this year... and losing four teams after a short even season might mean there are a couple of surprise teams who are very worried come July!

Think that's the crux of it given that the Middle 8 is really knock out rugby, in that even if you're in the middle 8, if you take some good form into it then you'll probably be ok, go into it getting hammered and low on confidence and the teams from the championship will smell blood.

that's the exciting part of it, can't wait, was dead against it at first but did want P&R back, this system might just breath some life back into our game

Yes we have a good starting 17 but do we have a good enough squad compared to other teams once injuries start to take effect.

Re: Quality teams : Wed Dec 10, 2014 8:51 am
We have a competitive squad and the league is almost in 2 halves
Wigan, Saints, Warrington, Leeds, Huddersfield and Catalan will very likely fill the top six spots
Cas, Hull, Hull KR, Wakefield, Salford and Widnes will likely finish in the bottom half.

A decent start and taking some form into the end of the season will be the key factors.

Hopefully, as usual, Wakefield will confound the critics and ruffle a few feathers.
We look pretty good in the forwards and not too bad in the backs and it could be injuries to key players for certain games that
will make or break us.

The thing for us is, with a decent squad and good results we can have a really good season, and still finish 9th.
Based on previous years, that is still a good year for a club like Wakefield.

I think we have a good chance of getting 8th, but as Wrencat says, 8th is really the top of a group and one poor run, even a short one could easily put you to 10-12th.

Should be interesting next year. I can see a top 3 of Wigan, saints and wire. After that anyone can finish anywhere from 4th to 12th.

Every year when people start talking about finish positions and betting odds, Vasty has to give his sermon on the mount, explaining why Wakey are such long odds - it's come a bit early this year mind you, but it's regular as clockwork.

Meanwhile, I'm lumping on everyone tipping Wakey to finish bottom - despite all the evidence to the contrary (i.e never having done so) it happens every year.

To be fair, although it is a regular sermon, he is right.
It's obviously a big bugbear (spell?) for him.
