Missed this article on Radford's approach with the group of players looking to debut or build on game time at first team level, sounds like he'll be keeping them more in-house, focused on the U19s comp and training with the senior squad. Seems a sensible strategy. It's interesting to reflect on the coincidence of bringing groups of local players through together in the past and our more successful years; hopefully with 4 of the current England squad of 20 being from our club this is an indicator we're doing things better. None of the top clubs adopt a tokenist approach to including academy players in their squads, it's done with genuine engagement and opportunities are given actively with high but realistic expectations. Good luck to the current batch of players on the cusp of first team breakthrough, sounds like several could be the real deal.

the youth at hull fc is looking really promising now, its come on leaps and bounds in recent years. not to the heights or st's leeds and wigan yet, but don't think we're to far off in the development.
Whatever peoples opinions of Adam Pearson are, just be thankful he came along when he did as this crop of extremely talented youngsters would have suffered the chronic under investment of the previous regime. They may not progress to be the superstars we hope they'll be, but at least this time it won't be the clubs fault.

A very apt choice of words. Theres many a superstar at youth level or "Future FC player" bigged up by their parents/team who dont go on to make it and its very rarely the fault of the pro team.
The talent identification path is taking a different turn, some may like some of the newer approaches, others may not but its good to see clubs adopting more of a open mind.

Point is that under the previous regime these youngsters were never given a fair chance due to chronic under investment. There are lots of supposed future internationals in Hull, bigged up by teams/parents as you say. But at the minute I think we do have 7 or 8 that could become good SL players and within that there's 2 or 3 who could be really special. I like the equal pay idea Radford has adopted and also the importance he's putting on winning the 19's competition, which with essentially a group of 17/18 year olds would be a great achievement and one they're capable of reaching. Winning cultures are started this way.
Just on Jansin Turgut, I am a fan and he has a great future but he is not ready for SL yet and may not be next year as well. I think once he develops he could be as good as Gareth Ellis was in his prime. At the moment Turgut is only 92kgs which is too light for a back rower these days, I watched both England Academy tests closely and he did struggle at certain times with the bigger Aussie pack who were all around that 105-110 kg. Can't wait to watch his future unfold.

Disagree with this. One thing about him is how impressively built he is. 92kgs is the weight given on the Web site but that was from before last season. A yrs full time training and an off season at 18 will have added a few. Only saw highlights of the England games but watching go through several defenders for a try n swatting a few off to set up another with a kick didn't give the impression he's lightweight. Also remembering it was the England lads 1st games for months. Oz boys played 3 warm ups prior. He's more about lines, speed and instinct than physicality tho I'd say. Think he'll get a few games in this then a lot more next. Young back rowers coming through can benefit n possibly speed up their development though from training everyday with the likes of Ellis n mini.
I haven't seen a backrower at FC hit as hard or as often as Ellis does. Tony Grimaldi was a hard hitter and solid, but Gaz is a level above. A total machine.

Per tackle every tackle he's the consistanly hardest hitter in the league. Would of had soliola in the same bracket but he's gone.
