'Do you remember when we had that meeting in Orlando? We talked about how we were knocked out the previous year by Leeds. And at the end, I asked you one question. "Do you want to be a semi-final team? Or do you want to do something special?" You all said you wanted to win. But talking is easy – it needed you to believe. It needed you to work hard – harder than you had – and make sacrifices. You did all that. you worked for each other. You stuck together when it was tough. And because of your efforts, you sit here tonight as champions. I'm proud of you. Be proud of yourselves. You've done something special.' Shaun Wane's post-Grand Final speech. 5th October 2013.
Wigan Warriors Rugby League Club announced today that it had signed a deal with leading UK bookmaker, Coral, to become its Official Main Sponsor for the 2015 season.
Under the terms of the sponsorship Coral will be the main shirt sponsor, with the Coral logo appearing on the front of the Wigan Warriors home and away, playing and replica kits. Coral will also receive LED advertising at each of Wigan Warriors' home games.
Wigan Warriors' Sales Director, Geoff Warburton, said: "We are ecstatic to be welcoming such a distinguished company as Coral into the Wigan Club and the sport of Rugby League.
"As a forward thinking company, Coral have adapted to the online betting market exceptionally well and are exactly the kind of organisation that will help drive the brand of Wigan Rugby League forward.
"With 1,800 shops across the United Kingdom coupled with millions of online customers, it is clear that the Warriors will receive exposure on a scale that we haven't seen before. We hope that this is the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship for both parties."
The Warriors are the most successful Rugby League club in the world, they were the 2013 Super League and Challenge Cup Winners and they have the biggest fan base in the country.
Matt Prevost, Coral Interactive Marketing Director, said today, "This is Coral's first sponsorship venture into Rugby League, so we are delighted to be partnering with the most successful Rugby League club in Britain.
"Rugby League has a significant, dedicated and passionate fan-base many of whom enjoy betting on their sport, so strategically this sponsorship deal makes a lot of sense. The Coral online business is enjoying sector-leading growth and sports sponsorships like this exciting venture with Wigan Warriors are an important factor in delivering that success," added Prevost.
In order to celebrate the new partnership, Coral will be offering special bets on Wigan to punters, including 3/1 on Wigan winning the Grand Final and 5/1 on Josh Charnley being the Top Regular Season Tryscorer. To take advantage of these offers click here.
