Anyone moaning about a bookmaker as a sponsor is daft. I am not a betting man myself but betting is a part of all sport. God knows where he got it from but my son always has a bet on the first try scorer and the result at the DW!
The history of most sports is tied in with gambling. From prize fighting and hare coursing to horse racing, greyhound racing and even a sport like cricket which was usually played for big wagers (11 men of England v 22 men of Kent that sort of thing) in the early 19th century.
It doesn't half keep your interest going if you've got a few quid riding on the outcome. Last try scorer is my favourite because even if the game is done and dusted your man can win you a few quid and pay for the day.
Betting on the number of collapsed scrums is the only way I can watch a game of Union.
