How very "Big Society" of the Tory to offer an undefined portion of his tax free testimonial stash to a hospice as well as publicising the fact that he is doing so. Jimmy Savile was also quite adept at publicising his charity contributions. He was also another Tory @rsewipe and a jolly good mate of Thatcher & Co.

Does JP want an unbranded tin of baked beans and a packet of custard creams or what? He could donate them to the nearest food bank which he approves of.

I will ask you again what was your reaction to Kevin Sinfields Testimonial in 2007 and of course his acceptance of a medal of Empire?

Had a Black Forest Triffle this weekend from Waitrose (I know, I'll be wearing tweed and voting Tory next). It was basically a cake in a triffle bowl - how would that be classified? Could this be a whole new form of "cake" that was previously unknown to science?

Waitrose Black Forest Trifle is very good but not in the same fantastische league as their Scottish Raspberry and Amontillado Sherry Trifle which is the absolute pekinese or toy poodle's bollox. How about the Waitrose Chocolate Brownie Cream Pie Chaos? It's definitely not pie but can the chaotic construction be classified as cake?

I doubt the Testimonialled Tory pillock will be donating any of the above to any food banks.

And what, pray, would be the current state of rugby shirt design without Savile's influence? I do wish you'd look at the bigger picture.

Savile's influence on shirt design was particularly damning in soccer as far back as the 1970's!

That's a matter for his own conscience.

Many principled people have rejected honours bestowed upon them by the establishment on the basis of their principles.

Sinfield didn't reject his honours and that decision may well say a lot more about him than it does about the principles he alleges to hold dear.

Ahh being lectured on principles by the bloke who flounced off Substandard threatening never to return.

Oh the delicious irony.

But really you only said that about Peacock not because of the reasons you posted but you just wanted to fish for a few bites and some of us took your bait .Well done

Your asinine assumptions and all-round utter stupidity would be much better served on that other forum which you have a tendency to speak fondly of.

Feel free to contribute to the bank balance of a Tory out of some bizarre sense of club loyalty.

Anyone who seriously believes that the current crisis of capitalism was caused by the previous New Labour government is way too stupid to warrant any patronage from me.

No it wasn't.

Not a big fan of testimonials in this day and age. I believe they are anachronistic in this era of contracted, salaried, full time professional players.

Testimonials made more sense during the semi-pro era when players were only paid on a pay-as-you-play basis with the offer of win bonuses.

I attended JJB's testimonial because he seems like a good egg to me and a decent human being. I don't think he's a revolting, selfish tory pillock either, plus his old man (who attended the very same school as me at the same time) left quite an impression also

Love it! An analysis of the relative merits of Waitrose's desserts and trifles before a tirade at right-wing tory voters?

Didn't realise Waitrose was the go-to place for non-capitalist left wingers to go to buy their essentials, including the "Scottish Raspberry and Amontillado Sherry Trifle".

What would a right-wing capitalist Tory buy...?!
