I think what would be most interesting Iain is if we had a way of finding out where people lived when they started watching us as well. I suspect most would have originally been from the Central Salford/Weaste area and would have moved away over time with family and kids. This would suggest that a big factor in getting new fans would be to have the Stadium at the centre of the community and easily accessible to most people. In contrast, as not many people are from Barton now and the stadium isn't very close to many communities it would mean we lose out on this way of attracting new fans. In the long run, this could be dangerous for our attendances.
There's plenty of housing within a 15 minute walk from AJ Bell. We should start our marketing/promotion/development there and work outwards.
All this stuff about "being at the heart of the community" is pointless unless you (or someone you know) is going to stump up the cash for another new stadium.
Rather than moaning about stuff that you simply cannot change, we need to take positive action to get the most over our current situation.
I'm proper central Salford me, so by the Marshy1 standard for club support, you carpetbaggers should all piss off and find your own clubs. This one's mine.

I'll get on that later with the same options.
I think a weakness (or opportunity, depending on whether your glass is half full), from the results of the voting so far is that we have fewer votes in Eccles/Barton/Winton than we have in Wigan, or Bolton, or Tameside, or Yorkshire. As Wayward Fan says, this area is where we should be targetting to be the new generation of walk up fans. There are plenty of homes within a 10 minute walk of the Peel Green roundabout.
From the voting (so far) we have 84% of fans who aren't (or weren't) used to just being able to walk to the Willows, so if we can build a walk up support round Barton then there's plenty of scope for improvement.

am i missing something here??? cant see any place to vote?
What device/browser are you using? If you're logged in and can see the list of options, then there should be a button to choose an answer. If you're logged in and can already see the scores against the list then either somebody has already voted against you account, or they may have voted from the same IP address (I'm not 100% sure if repeat vites are restricted by IP as well as username).
On the 8th day, God created Rugby League On the 9th day, Satan created Salford. A battle ensued through to to late on the 12th day. A few hours later, a truce, and on the final stroke of midnight, Code 13 was created... Heaven and Hell combined forces and delivered Salford Red Devils...a legacy is born!!!!!

Although getting "walk-ups" would be a good idea, I fear it needs more than that. The day a person wakes up and thinks, "Ee, I'll go to t' rugby" have gone. Even people living close to Barton will need a reason to go. These days, where a fan lives is less important than the image of the club and its marketing. if United and City can filll stadiums in far-off countries, we should be stealing ideas from them. Locke as a new Beckham, Chase as a harder Nasri, Mozza as Giggs. We need to make ourselves very visible where people go for leisure: cinemas, in town (e.g. Printworks),and other sports. We need to be linking to City and United so younger football fans think of trying the experience out once their season finishes.
Interesting where we all live. One poster on here could say "France" and be right. He attends most matches. How do you market him?

Just looking at the population stats for Salford (And its borough's) if just 5% of the population of the City of Salford turned up at matches we'd average 11,700 (roughly) add to the those who do travel from outside the city to watch you wouldn't get in the ground and then there's the away fans....
Currently I'd predict we're at around just 1 1/2% of the citys population.
It's a poor show, but there are nuances in Salford that are pretty unique for a British city. There is the old chestnut about how much affinity those in Cadishead, Worsley and Little Hulton have with Salford. (I won't give Swinton the satisfaction!) And yet here, most of our fans live there.
