I think you have to give them a crack when they're ready as much as when they're required. If he progresses rapidly then great. But if you're anticipating pain then that suggests to me that you're not that confident. I'm not convinced by the SmokeyTA-esque argument that the quickest path to success is sending lambs to the slaughter so they become lions. You just get covered in blood and wool that way. Rovers colours at least.
Where was I? Ah, Marsh - couple of games here and there, more if he's ace, no problem. Relying on him if he's not ace and Kelly is out for 10 weeks injured - not so good.
