Aspirations for next season : Mon Oct 27, 2014 10:11 pm
Just wondering what everyone's hopes are for next season?
I know it may sound negative, but I would happily take staying up and stability off the field would be a godsend after the problems we've had.

Staying up via top 8 or middle 8 just staying up and positive ground news

I think about 8 of next years 12 clubs would say the same. I don't think Cas will do as well as last season but I think every game has the potential to be close unless clubs rest players and target winnable games. I would be quite happy to see Cas make the 8 and watch competitive games and I'm so glad there will be no marquee signings. Having said all that I don't think theres much chance of relegation for any team not making the 8 unless they really implode.

Staying up. As a club we neither have the supporter base nor the financial clout to expect more. A good cup run would be nice.

If the team can stay fit and clear of injuries (plus keep our current pivots including Sammut) then finishing 8th is a realistic aim as this squad is better than the 2012/13 squad.

I'd be happy with 8th, but I'm realistic enough to know we'll be 9-12.
I'd hope for a competitive run in the middle 8 and aim for top spot.

Would prefer to leave the 4th v 5th million pound game to someone else this time.

Given our squad i can't see anything other than bottom 4 finish and being part of the middle 8. Once there a few badly timed injuries or suspensions and it would be a battle to ensure we are in the top 3 of that group. If it gets down to a one off game then it could go either way on the day whoever it is.

I hope to see the Wakefield captain lifting a trophy aloft.

Back in the real world, winning another battle against relegation will probably be as good as it gets.

If we get off to a flier - then we go for the 8 - it can be done, but we need luck with injuries etc.

If we don't - then we may need to adjust targets and timings of peak conditioning to ensure that we are at our best for the Super 8's. That is going to be a real pressure cooker and will not be a formality for any team in there!
