Ferres on the bench for the first game versus Samoa this saturday.

tomkins at full back, widdop and smith in the halves

hodgson starting hooker with clarke on bench

a new look team , be good to see how they go!

faalogo playing for Samoa! seems to have done well since he left the Giants playing for Newcastle Knights

you could pick 2 or 3 others, but burgess has one good season and he's in the squad because he plays for wigan, i don't deny he is a good player and has potential to be world class, but he shouldn't be picked because of his club colours after only 1 full season in the game.

I understand your point about Makinson but as Burgess is already arguably one of the best English wingers in Super League and a mainstay of a talented Wigan backline, he must be worthy of his place in the squad.

If you're good enough, you're good enough. Of course players shouldn't be thrown in too early, but if their ability merits selection, why not give them a chance?

The legendary Billy Boston was capped within a dozen games of making his Wigan debut and no-one can question his calibre.

super league champs....league leaders shield..and not 1 player selected...like one of your posters said the only good thing is we wont get any injuries off season with no one selected.....danny brough would have been one of the first names on my team sheet for england..i dont blame the lad playing for scotland..steve cacknamara couldn't pick his nose!...see u all next season.

I think most of us are in agreement with that comment. Totally useless coach with zero man management skills.

England were rusty but got the win in the end! goes without saying will have to improve to beat Australia next week but no doubt we will with 8 days turnaround.

hopefully o'loughlin and whitehead come in for westerman and ferres.

The aussies look in disarray!

oh and Scotland beat Ireland so it looks like they are faves now to join England, Australia and NZ in the 2016 4 nations, wardle and brough should still be playing for them by then! broughs last season with us too by then?

Why play ferres on the right when he's clearly better on the left- his strength is his offload - farrells is his line running-which he can do from either side!!! Macbanana strikes again!

If Whitehead was going to make his debut surely that should have been today rather than thrown in at the deepend next week. However this is McNamara so anything can happen.
Joel Tompkins should not even be in the squad so to pick him in the starting 13 is more evidence of the coach been totally clueless.

no stand out players yesterday for me, we made hard work of it, it was like watching fartown , dropped balls, penalties galore, and trying to score off every set.

even though the aussies looked poor against the kiwis we need a massive improvement to beat them, what better incentive than knowing that if we win we will be more or less in the final and Australia will be out!

i would have liked to have seen whitehead start ahead of joel tomkins simply because he's deserved it more.
i actually thought ferres had a spell in the middle and thought he had maybe taken over from westerman

Poor performance from us yesterday but we just scraped through in the end. Can't see us winning another game now as the Aussies and Kiwis are streets ahead of us and McNamara is a liability as coach.

so close for England again

how many times have we seen those tries given?? looked like a try to me

shame we seemed to switch on for a period in the second half as we looked the better team.

clarke was brilliant, not so sure in hodgson..got caught out a couple of times. sarginson impressed me as did george burgess again.

going to be hard to qualify for the final now i feel, can be done but outside chance only

think we have to beat NZ by 10 to get to the final
