I was brought up in Northowram and it was a lot easier to get to Odsal, but thankfully my dad had played for Fax so we went to Thrum Hall. We did go to watch the odd Northern match but the thought of freezing my bits off there on a regular basis would have been horrendous.
Great to know your Dad played for Fax, without giving your identity away can you tell us who he was? My Dad boxed Henry Cooper when they were both amateurs in London.
And Thrum Hall was well known for its sunshine and paradise like surroundings!
There were no pretensions at Thrum Hall, it was always a delapidated stadium, the highest ground in Rugby League, but no matter what you or your acolyites say, it was a Rugby ground, close to the pitch, close enough to see the steam rising from the pack, close enough to see the bench of both sides, be able to walk around at half time, a lovely bar run by the "taverners" so don't give us that, my ground is better than your ground. If you really were honest, you would confirm that your ground, including surroundings was the worst in Super League, The Shay is a great Stadium, Fev, Leigh, Doncaster, make your ground look like a ??? No disrespect intended.

JD, I must take you to task over this. You must remember the Eagles of Sheffield-shire competing in the egret of RL that is SL, therefore, surely they must have played at a stadium ( sic ) of lesser SL calibre than ODSAL/RFL

Wow reading this drivel from 'dulls' fans I am now glad my dad made me walk to Thrum Hall from Boothtown rather than catch the bus from North bridge to the top of Odsal. ...
There ya go! All these years being miserable, suddenly you read some 'drivel' and now, like the late Jack Bruce, you're 'glad'!
Does this late-onset gladness make up for all the years of pain, though?
I've really missed the Bulls and the bandwagon hopping plastic fans. I'm finding out now why they have the right to be arrogant. The championship will be a much more pleasant place to be know we all know where we belong
