"Argument"

That's you summed up to a tee!

I can't be bothered with your nonsense!

Your job is to say to yourself on a job interview does the hiring manager likes me or not. If you aren't a particular manager's cup of tea, you haven't failed -- you've dodged a bullet.

Have you ever seen Blake Ferguson play? I have, and I share the view of thousands of fans, including Nicholas Polites, that he is a devastating attacking force, more potent than even his friend and former fellow troublemaker Joshua Dugan. He is certainly more potent than Joel Monaghan and Gregory Bird, talented though they both may be. As a centre Blake is at the same level as Sam Burgess is as lock forward. In other words, Blake Ferguson is an exceptional talent.

Yes I have seen him play and he is a bit like Roberts or Albert King possess the ability to do extraordinary things unfortunately he doesn't possess the ability to do it regularly. Greg Bird is a proven Aussie test player - something Ferguson has got near to achieving. Bird carried the Catalans side in the season he was there a truly exceptional player.

Your comparison of Ferguson to Burgess is laughable it would be if it weren't sure you were taking the p1ss.

Wrong it you that is talking jibberish - the role model thing you are blowing that way out of proportion. My kids wanted to play like Iestyn Harris not behave like he did off the field. You seriously believe that kids aspire to beating women or believe its OK because they see an excellent rugby player every week?

If as a parent I am unable to instil correct values into my kids I have nobody else to blame but myself

NRL expansion? Sometime soon, maybe......

I think sportspeople influence what is considered "normal" society behaviour for kids. It's not their only influence but they put the posters on the wall for a reason.

They put posters up because they want to emulate them on the field and the wealth that comes with it i.e. the want to be sportsmen not rapists or abusers.

Rich business people kill their wives does that stop us encouraging our kids to reach the pinnacle of their career no it doesn't. These incidents are few and far between in the bigger picture to say Chad Evans will influence thousands of kids to consider rape normal behaviour is ludicrous.

No one is suggesting that the kids will aspire to become rapists FFS, use some common sense!

What's being said is that someone who's been convicted of such a crime should not then be placed in a position where kids will idolise them, not even for their ability as a sportman.

That is exactly what you are saying - you are saying these guys are such positive role models that kids will consider their off field behaviour the norm? Blake Ferguson being allowed to play pro RL will influence thousands of kids to think beating up women is OK - otherwise the role model thing doesn't hold water. You see how ludicrous your view point is.

Kids idolise what they do on the field - the talking back to ref that never used to happen is replicated on hundreds of junior fields etc Never heard of a rapist/wife beater use the defence that it was OK for a pro sportman.

He makes a mistake so for that he should never be able to play the game again; yet drug cheats are accepted back into the sport after a period of reflection and rehabilitation!! Which do you think has a greater impact on young players drugs or anti social behaviour!! I still raise the issues around Greg Inglis - I don't see anyone on here calling for his barring from the sport.

If Blake Ferguson was to become a sporting hero to children it would be because of his performances on a rugby field, not because of his off field crimes.

All the more reason to prevent him playing again as he will definitely become the hero of young kids which given his crime is just wrong!

Let him take a course in general building, website design or some other industry where he can earn an honest anonymous living.

As a side note to this, Ferguson was found guilty of a sexual assault but DOES NOT have a criminal record for it. There would be no reason to prevent him gaining a UK visa, therefore Catalan would not be the only club in for him.

There is no point in him coming to Super League to bolster an existing top club like Wigan, St Helens or Warrington, and keep the competition predictable. It would only be good for the game if he could join a club outside the "winning establishment." Catalans are the obvious case in this respect. Perhaps even one of the Hull clubs. You can rest assured that if Blake Ferguson joins a SL club, he will raise their try scoring average by at least 2 tries per game. He is just that good.

If role models didn't affect kids behaviour there would be no swearing or bad behaviour.
I don't know many parents that teach their kid to swear or disrespect their elders or commit crime. They learn it partly through necessity in the crime example and partly through following others.
In the same way and reason that cigarette advertising is limited, if kids see a perceived "cool" figure doing something outside the norm, they will be tempted to emulate it, to become equally as cool.

It's not a matter of whether a parent teaches them right or wrong, though clearly that is 90%. Outside influences need to be understood too.
Accepting a rapist back in to a football club damages the community as a whole, unless there are measures to show how wrong that was and how damaging it has been for the player.
Bringing players in like that doesn't have to be a bad thing if handled correctly, but if the issue is ignored it will definitely affect people, and not only kids.
