And relegation is a destructive mostly catastrophic period for the relegated clubs. If you don't believe me ask Widnes, or Cas, or the multitude of other clubs who still haven't recovered from it.
Huddersfield didn't keep finishing bottom because they weren't being relegated, they were relegated because they weren't spending money and having to merge
If Huddersfield weren't relegated but Davy still invested and still brought in the names he did. Huddersfield would still be where they are now. If Huddersfield are relegated and Davy spends nothing, the probably don't exist right now.
id like to think widnes and cas have done pretty well since being relegated, they have rebuilt just like the giants did through through the franchise system.
giants were spending money when finishing bottom, just badly managed at that time! when we merged with sheffield, jon kear was appointed the coach and he couldnt believe the wages the giants players were getting compared to the sheffield ones!
like i say we didnt get away with zero damage finishing bottom those years, we lost a generation of fans through it... our fans are mainly old or very young, the 25 to 35 brackets badly missing.
but some of us stuck with them through all this and are happy fans nowadays knowing where we have come from, some of the new ones have very high expectation and we need to have a reality check sometimes and look at how far we have come in a decade or so.
on the overseas topic ... Giants currently have only 2 on their books.. dont think any SL can say that.. we made the decision to sign young and british a long time ago. recenty announced a full time academy too.

Widnes went bust. Cas publicly stated the damage done and the money lost after relegation. Not to mention the loss of their players. It took them years and nearly a million pounds from uncle jack.
Both clubs have needed a massive investment just to rebuild and only needed to rebuild because of the utter destruction wreaked by relegation.
I'd also remind you that the giants lost fans by being relegated as well.

Steve Gill said '(Chairman) Jack (Fulton) had put more than £800,000 in over the space of four to five months'
If he put that much in in just a few months , god knows how much he's put in over the years.

was watching an nfl doco. on one of their teams and they used the term bomb to describe those long high passes from quaterback to running back and i think gibson took that idea, realized you cant throw the ball forward in RL and adapted it to a "bomb" kick we have

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done But he with a chuckle replied That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried. So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn’t be done, and he did it!
the years of being the whipping boys and finishing bottom of SL those years was awful, we lost a generation of fans, alot went over to bullmania and leeds.
we were relegated and rebuilt the club, been upwards ever since through hard work and the dedication of ken davy and good coaches like tony smith and nathan brown.
the lost generation of fans is proving hard to get back but if you compare crowds with what they were in the 90's when crowds were in the hundreds we have come a long long way.
Have to say when we visited Huddersfield early in the 2002 season we were shocked at the complete lack of juniors watching them
