To reconcile respect with practicality, what is the optimum speed for a hearse?

Hull FC skipper Gareth Ellis is inviting previous Club Captains from back to the mid-50s to be guests at his Testimonial Dinner next March, entitled Captain's Table.

And to make the evening even more special, Ellis is bringing one ex-captain round the world ...Toowoomba-based Jason Smith, who led the club for three seasons from 2002-2004.

Invites will be issued to surviving UK-based former Captains, Johnny Whiteley, Chris Davidson, Brian Hancock, Vince Farrar, Steve Norton, Charlie Stone, Lee Crooks, Russ Walker, Steve McNamara, Gary Divorty, Andy Fisher, Alan Hunte, Karl Harrison, Lee Radford, Sean Long and Andy Lynch.

The Testimonial Dinner, sponsored by DF Services, of Hull, will be staged at the Willerby Manor Hotel on Tuesday 24 March 2015, featuring a three course meal, interviews with the ex-captains, legendary Rugby League auctioneer Mick Morgan and compere David Howes.

Tickets are priced at £40 per person with any size of party welcome, up to tables of ten.

If you are interested please email apahlen@yahoo.co.uk to reserve tickets. Your contact details and the number of tickets required are all that is needed at this stage.

The testimonial committee are aware of the reports about Jason Smith and are seeking a replacement for the dinners as soon as possible.

As soon as any news is available, those who have already reserved or bought tickets will be informed and an announcement will appear here. The committee hopes that the news will not put people off attending the dinners
