I see the Ukraine v Russia European Championship tie scheduled for Kharkov / Kharkiv has been switched to a Russian venue "because of the political crisis", including no functioning municipality in the city ...

Still, could make the infamous 1868 Olympic ice hockey match between Czechoslovakia and USSR look like a lovers' tiff ...

Don't you mean 1968 as I doubt that the USSR played Czechoslovakia at that time ?

What a fantastically timed opportunity for some publicity. "RL helping to keep conflict on the pitch" sort of thing. Surely any half-decent press officer at the RFL/RLIB could get some curio pieces into newspapers about this.
