Why sign old men and players we've already let go before our own kids.
If we genuinely don't have a current option for wing then let Johnston (spell?) have it.

If we sign Owen, he should still have an equal chance.

I do and I am

Potts is hardly old, he's a product of our youth system so ticks that box and IMO he offers more than Richard Owen, he's certainly faster. While Potts at SL level is somewhat an unknown quantity his performances in the Championships better sides offers me some hope that he'll be better than Owen who has been proved inadequate at SL level.

Tom Johnston is a very exciting prospect and I'd love him to play so well that he claims one wing berth for himself but the reality is likely to be that he plays a handfull of games for experience and the 2016 season is when we see him as a regular.

The question is, have all the clubs decided on who they are retaining and who they are releasing?

I'd much prefer to see Johnston given the chance to claim the shirt. Would far rather have a young lad from our academy than sign a player whose best days are past, especially on the wing. But if they don't think he's ready (none of our academy players ever seem to be ready :/) Then I'd rather have a lad from the championship too possibly look at bringing back Kay! I dont think he put a foot wrong in his appearance for us!

If Owen is in talks with Fev as well, let them have him. There are better wingers in the championship, sharp, Potts and Blackmore to name a few.

On the back of that one good game for us against Cas which imo was mainly down to Lautiti either Kay or his agent's valuation shot up and wanted more money than the club were prepared to pay and went to Leigh presumably for more money. On that basis assuming he is available by way of being ooc I personally don't think the club are in any position financially to offer him a deal favourable to him or his agent assuming he would consider coming back.

Ok you make a good point about Potts. I'm ok with that if he is as good as you say, but not Gardener.

If we are looking for a winger to offer development time to Johnston then, for me, a 1 year deal for Gardner is preferable to a 1 year deal for Owen.

In truth Id rather not sign either of them and look for someone who'd offer us something more permanent and something a bit different, like real size, speed or sheer evasiveness.

Ok so we've gone with Owen. My next question is how can we afford Owen on a 3 year deal? Yet not be in a position to offer the likes of Kay, Walshaw etc deals. I doubt they'll have asked for more, in fact I'd wager Owen is on fairly large salary. Furthermore why should those lads play their hearts out and let's be fair here, I go to the majority of games and can't recall them ever giving less than 100%, and be expected to watch certain other players get paid a higher amount to look disinterested!
