I'm surprised that Smith or Lockers don't get a mention as they have both been outstanding players this year for Wigan. Most despised team? If that were the case why are Hanley and Farrel in the list of past winners when arguably they played for a more dominant and more "despised' period of the Wigan team?

Don't forget this is the Player's Player of the season. I personally don't think that Peacock or Roby are deserving (is Peacock there at respect of his age and continuing?) I haven't seen enough of Hill to really comment and Clarke has been a cracking player but doesn't shine when Cas have been struggling.

O'Loughlin has only played around about half the season.

There's a whole thread on this forum of Warrington fans falling out of their trees complaining about the Man of Steel nominations.

Maybe Wane should shut up and repeat the RFL mantra

Jamie Peacock is the best player in Super League
Jamie Peacock is the best player in Super League
or maybe James Roby

if anybody disagrees there's video evidence going back 5 to 10 years to prove it.

I expect the RFL would tell us that Wigans players are all non-entities which will cause an embarassing shuffle if they win SL again this year and have taken 3 of the last 4 trophies...ah well they can always give Wane coach of the year and say the only reason they are successful is because they have a coaching genius.

And so you aim towards the sky,
And you'll rise high today,
Fly away, Far away,
Far from pain....

Personally, I believe Wane is the difference between this Wigan side actually being pretty mediocre compared to the SL favourites they presently are.

His backs-to-the-wall, get-stuck-in tactics might not be to everybody's taste but they work effectively - It might be pushing it, but he knows how to polish a turd and does it well.

Could it be that Warrington are the most despised?

Saddo is full of s**t. You would have thought people would have realised that by now.

You do you realise MoS is voted for by the players?

On the south coast with a load of retired folk. Makes me feel young.

I find it amazing the number of people who simply don't understand journalism. In a press conference a journalist asks if Wane thinks any Wigan players should have been included in the short list for MOS. What do you expect the Wigan coach to say? No, none of my players are good enough, they're all rubbish really.

He responds "I thought Matty would have had a chance with what he has done when (half-back partner) Blake Green has been out," Wane said. A fair enough comment then turned into a non-story by other journalists.
