Oh man, what a night.
Started in farce and darkness. Couldn't believe they kicked off in that gloom - virtually impossible to commentate on, but we did just about OK. At least I had batteries to run on rather than relying on mains power like France Bleu. Both sides wanted to play - understandable from the Dragons point of view given they're flying back tonight - and Sky said they were good to broadcast, so there you go. It wasn't a stadium thing, by the way. Street lights in the area were all out as well. But if it was a Wakey, say, who didn't have 780 miles to travel and a flight booked, I doubt that would have started. We were told that emergency lighting had 90 minutes. Power had been off for about 80 when it came back, so we were close to losing the floodlighting we did have. Anyway...
Tough, tough game. Hendo - an absolute machine. Oldfield - they couldn't get hold of him. Best game Garcia's had in sang et or. It showed me what a leader Lima is, very much in the Alex Chan mode on and off the field. Discipline was better - not great, but better. Defence was excellent. Could have gone either way and had we been edged out, there'd have been no complaints.
Black kit hoodoo well and truly buried. Away form questions answered. Bring on the Saints.
