Ahh, ok. Haven't been paying as much attention as I might have been.
When I first saw GH's proposal for the expanded WCC format last year, I thought it was batshit loony tunes until I realised it was just about creating extra opportunities for generating much needed revenue.
The SL product is on it's @rse. Six seasons of franchised mediocrity has seen to that. The four SL play-off fixtures at the weekend generated a meagre 30k fans in aggregate attendance. There were only 7k in attendance at Headingley FFS. A lot of fans will no longer stump up for that crap, even when it's meaningful crap and the result is important.
This expanded WCC (even if it is realistically just a couple of exhibition games tagged on) still has the potential to generate way more revenue and media interest due to it's international dimension, but also because fans have been starved of seeing genuine world class star quality players for the past decade or more. I know plenty of people who have little to no interest in RL but show an interest when these type of events are on.
Huddersfield's participation would most definitely be batshit loony tunes. It has to be Leeds instead.
