Mike McMeeken Next to Leave : Wed Sep 10, 2014 10:15 am  

Reports this morning in the Yorkshire Post is that Castleford are set to sign their Fourth Bronco for next season, Mike McMeeken, a player I have always rated, I do feel another season at his age in The Championship would have done him good.

I remember when I was very young watching Youth Rugby League matches live on Sunday afternoons with my Dad on ITV, the youngster then Roger Millward played and Castleford produced so many good young players, but these days it is instant success with players clubs seem to want, they could not keep hold of Daryl Clark who signed/agreed to join Warrington at the start of the season but remained with Cas, they want Hook from Salford but can't afford the £100K the Dr wants, so they take the cheap way out, is it not time that any home produced young player Under 23 who signs for a Super League club, they have to pay say £25,000 compensation, in the days I was involved with BARLA they had to pay amateur clubs £50 and that was a lot of money then, but was welcomed by the clubs.

Tigers are not interested in Hock from Salford - it was just paper talk from the MEN.

Regarding McMeeken - he was the stand out player for LB when we played you recently at the Jungle and a big lad too. I was also impressed with Solomona.

Castleford are well and truly above criticism in terms of junior player development.

Im pleased for any of our players who get an opportunity to stay in SL. Personally I think Cas have made a mistake with Moore and Solomona.

Always liked Mike Mc, thought he'd manage to secure a SL berth next season with us going down. Good luck to him, decent player - shame to lose him!

To be honest I'm mighty relieved to have Moore off our hands!
