Supporters Association Latest : Tue Aug 03, 2010 10:33 am  
Brief & to the point:

1. The Quiz Night was an excellent evening. Everyone enjoyed the 'Quiz With a Difference'.

2. Next meeting is on Tuesday, 10th August, 7:30 for 7:45 start. Guests: James Deighton [Radio Leeds], + others tba. Venue: Turnbridge WMC.

3. Regular monthly meetings at Turnbridge WMC, 2nd Tuesday of every month for the foreseeable future. [Tuesday is the most popular judging from the paper questionnaire and the various forums' questionnaires [full results will be posted when I have a bit more time].

4. Additional meeting in September [provisionally 4th Tuesday] to appoint the committee and formulate the 'mission statement'[!] [volunteers anyone?].

I dont think so with a £100 shirt you would be able to buy several super league clubs let alone a place on a committee. :wink: :lol:

A few more ideas for when we get more organised.
1. Get a logo so we can use it e.g advertisment, letter heades etc
2. Get some aplication forms togetner for people wanting to become members, some of which can be available from the club shop/ticket office. ( this application process should involve a yearly fee)
3. Get contacts at other trusts and assosiations to get ideas etc.
4. Speakers involved with the club e.g players, coach's (Nathan Brown before he goes home) etc

Just a few ideas i thought id say before i forgot.

By the way, a very good night tonight, some good story's form JD.

Join Huddersfield Giants Supporters Association and become a Ghostbuster!

This week the Huddersfield Giants Supporters Association had James Deighton as their guest speaker.

Mick Beavers welcomed JD, Mr Rugby League on Radio Leeds, who gave an entertaining insight into the life of a media reporter. Stories ranged from ‘entertaining’ episodes at Wakefield to the nakedness of a well known Rugby League coach.

In conclusion James told the tale of how he frightened the living daylights out of one of Rugby League’s hard men [no names!].

As a child, James found out that his house in Leeds was haunted. He recounted many sightings by his whole family of a sceptre from the middle ages. It transpired that the ghost was the spirit of the person who buried victims of the plague – the burial ground being beneath James’ house!

The doctor who moved into the house after the Deighton family had left lasted 2 ½ week! There are reports that the visits are still happening.

In conclusion, Dave Calverley thanked James for a very entertaining evening.

The next meeting – for all supporters - will be at Turnbridge WMC on Tuesday, 7th of September with the first AGM on the 21st September, at the same venue.

Meetings will now be on the FIRST Tuesday of every month. Mick has done an outstanding job with the speakers so far and his list of potentials is never ending!

The initial AGM, as stated above, will be on the 3rd Tuesday [21st] of September. The attachment is a nomination form for the election of the trust’s officers. [It is NOT a closed shop so feel free to nominate people.]

There will probably be a Curry Night on the 3rd Tuesday of October [19th] at the Chutney Mahal [bottom of Chapel Hill].
